Signed up for DNETC, but I've a lot of doubts about this 'project', for a start
I can't post a single message, sends you to the INLOG-Page(looping) it CLAIMS your whole host and doesn't respond to anything.
When I stop BOINC, DNETC, happily crunches away 
Can't even stop a process in Taskmanager, it simply starts another process, uses all CPU's & GPU's
This is INSANE and thus will remove this HIJACK from my host!!!   
 
Has any of the Knights have had similar 'events' , or am I just clumsy.....
A bit pissed of, by such behavior and had to vent this

You can go into client configuration and let it know how many cores it can use. In Linux there is also a way to set it's niceness so you can use the machine for other things as well.

Tried a few possebillities, but I'm still not satisfied, so I'll read and try some more
It keeps using both CPU, 4 cores(Q6600) and 2 different GPU, a ATI 4850 and 5870.

Gotta admire it's work ethic, though. 
Don't use BOINC, use the distributed.net clients.
http://www.distributed.net/Download_clients
They're reasonably well-behaved.
