S5 is now up and running.....
current estimate is that it'll take 1200 days to complete..... maybe we need an optimised client.......
http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/server_status.php
Code: | S5 search progress
Total needed Already done Work still remaining
16,446,454 units 13,891 units 16,432,563 units
100 % 0.084 % 99.916 %
1200.9 days 1.0 days 1199.9 days (estimated) |

Are you sure the same optimized client you're using won't do the S5 units? And how can you tell the S4's from the S5's
{edit} Silly me asking a question before I took a good close look at the WU name. First 2 digits of last series of characters. _________________

I looked at the cache on my two servers at home and I just picked up my first S5 work unit... It's buried under 39 S4 units...
Have no fear! I'll be getting to it pretty soon...

One thing to think about here us that the Boinc client doesn't know yet that the S5 WU's will take signinificantly longer than the S4 units and will assume that they will take the same length of time.
for example on my x2 using Akos's app I used to take 35 mins per wu, the S5 app now take 9 (yes nine) hours to complete!!! so 64 WU's that used to take 18 hour will now take 288 hours or 12 day's
this is dangerous with a large cache as you may get WU'S that you cannot process in time...
my advice is to get a few of the s5's in your cache and the set don't accpet new work. once you clearted the cache the reset the project....

I think it's at a higher resolution and so more data to crunch....
hence much larger WU's even with a significantly faster app....... _________________ Oh, it's blessed are the meek!, Well I'm glad they'll get something as they have a hell of a time!

It won't do them... The s5 units use an einstein app, not albert 4.37... I got 2 s5, though the rest that had been sent to me were s4 thus far.
s4 is probably running out however, given that Friday about 2.1 or so days worth were estimated before they changed it to showing s5 results.
In any case, I've suspended Einstein work fetch for now (was going to do it latter), as rushing to get some s4 results done, I neglected CPDN and seasonal, practically altogether... I need to get back to them long shrubs.
Anyhow, LHC now has work, so to grab that and not run into deadline probs. But unlike the past, I'm going to let it crunch down the s4 results for E@H, and LHC until it runs low on WUs... |

Actually the first S5 I have completed took less time than the last few S4's I have gotten.

Were you using Akos's optimised app for s4? if you were I'd be surprised!!!

actually the last few Alberts I got were a longer 3 hour version, some of the other Albert's I got were a lot shorter.
These S5 so far are like right in the middle.
Also were did you get that info in the first post about how many WU's are left and how long it will take?

Akosf's still cuts the crunch time to about 1/4 it would take with the standard app, which is the reason it was asked. The standard size alberts took about 35 mins on my a64 using u41-04... Akosf's optimized client helped significantly |

sounds like you're comparing long s4's against short s5's. apparently (allegedly) The einstein servers supposed to work out how much you can crunch based on your current output, so if you have a slow pc or were using standard s4 apps your probably getting just the short ones..

According to the latest update it will take 359 days to get through all the S5 work.

Looks like S5 is going to take awhile, only 6% in and the website is saying we still have 380 days to go at the current rate.
