Similarity matrix completed: The complete similarity matrix with respect to the march releases of the public protein databases has been calculated completely! Thanks to all BOINC participants that spent their CPU time on the many SIMAP workunits up to now. We are now entering the next stage of the SIMAP project: keeping the matrix up-to date. Every month we update SIMAP by importing the recent releases all public protein databases. Due to the growth of these databases every month many new sequences occur that need to be compared to all sequences that were in SIMAP before. So the work for our project will never stop. Currently we got 600,000 new sequences from the recent releases of UNIPROT and NCBI Genbank. The new workunits having names starting with 60501 contain these sequences.
