Mr. Fruit is trying to hook up the new PC and he just asked me how to find out the computer address so we can hook up the satellite, does anyone have a clue what he needs? _________________ Don't fuss about growing older, many are denied the chance. |

could be a couple of options
1) IP address, in windows click start, run, type cmd and press enter the type ipconfig and press enter again. amongst other things you should see somethng like
Code: | IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.9 |
2) mac adress - this is the unique number for the network card, I'll be surprised if it's this he needs , if he does let us know and I'll tell you how....
have fun, and Im a bit scared that your plugging a sattelite into the PC, do tou mean sateelite receiver?

Our internet access is Hughes.net, which is the satellite internet provider.
Thanks, I will see if that is what he needs. We don't have a Mac. _________________ Don't fuss about growing older, many are denied the chance. |

Sorry Alpha...
It's not the mac as in apple, its another type of geeky acronym that network engineers use.....
I'm a software geek myself

Duh, I guess you can tell I know nothing about "geek" stuff, I use a PC and that's about it.
Thanks for the help, I should have the new PC up and running tomorrow. Now my APC has finally died, guess I will order that thingy tomorrow. _________________ Don't fuss about growing older, many are denied the chance. |

Alpha,
For the meaning of a MAC address, you might want to have a look at this LINK
The native address is usually noted on the side of the network card. _________________ A shrubbery is a joy forever
