|
|
Hi all, BOINC newbie question:
Shouldn't my cross-project ID's be the same across the six projects I've joined? Three of them are the same, the other three are all different. Do I have one identity, or four?
Is the intent of the cross-project ID to unify identities across projects? Or does BOINC rely solely on users' e-mail addresses for that?
Just curious!

That is the intent of CPIDs - they're supposed to be the way stats sites can combine your stats. However, they're keyed off your email address, so you need to use the exact same email address when you sign up for each project, or your CPIDs won't sync up. _________________ KWSN Forum Admin

There also has to be a way for the CPIDs to sync up across projects. This means that you have to have your computer(s) attached to all projects in such a way that all the projects can communicate with each other through them. So if you are running projects A B and C and computer 1 is attached to project A and B then computer 2 must be attached to A or B as well as C for project C to sync up your CPID. Does that make sense? |

Hmm. I used the exact same e-mail address on all six projects, so I would think all six CPID's would be the same. I guess not!
I bet the people who set these things up know what they're doing. E-mail addresses are unique anyway.

Which projects are you signed up with and which ones aren't synced up? What client version are you running? I haven't had any CPID problems since they changed some of the algorithms almost a year ago I think. |

Exactly where you went wrong then.
Go to Kommand promt and follow directions:
Type
C:\>Create CPID
Press "carriage return" follow explicit instruktions from there on.
Clarifyingly yours,
