Since this seems to be the (sightly) more serious side of the site :
I have been crunching BOINC seti for about a month now.
My RAC is increasing still (increase is about 10 points a day on average, now near 300 RAC).
Is there anybody who can tell me how much longer this will increase?
(given i keep the same setup)?
I am using a hypertreaded P IV 2.8 GHz running 24/7 under windows XP SP2
What would be a stable production RAC?
Thanx _________________ A shrubbery is a joy forever

Thx if you turn those credits into Wal-Mart, they will give you a gift certificate. Is that enough help? _________________ Don't fuss about growing older, many are denied the chance. |

Actually, this is supposed to be one of the serious areas of the forum. _________________ KWSN Forum Admin

Unfortunatly i don't think anyone has a stable RAC, due to many of the projects going up and down and running out of work. Also last i heard from MacG that each site calculates RAC a bit different and it really is a bad measuring stick to use. So we prefer TOTAL SHRUBS SHRUBBED!! My RAC has been all over the place and i haven't changed the machines, but they run out of work, decide to work on another project a bit more often due to lack of work on the other and it scews my rac all over the place. _________________ Smoke-em if you got-em I do.. |

Yeah, I'm not sold on RAC. If the validators go offline for a day, you are still producing but you aren't getting credit so your RAC will do strange things. Then when the validators come back online the RAC will skyrocket and then crash back down again a few days later. However looking at my stats site (http://stats.kwsn.net) it appears that your RAC has peaked and is now going down slightly. I can't say for sure but I would expect RAC for a 2.8 GHz P4 to top out somewhere between 200 and 250. |

Thanx for the advice .
You are correct with the validator remark. Validators at Seti were down two times for more than a day in the last month. The total shrub count gets a dent and restores itself afterwards. The RAC behaves more erratic.
Lovely stats site you keep (I especially like the comparative graphs)!
The clear stats were part of the reason for joining the team .
