Strange and freaky.

If the place is south of India and halfway from Africa to Indonesia, wouldn't they have been affected by the tsunami? _________________ My brain hurts.

depends on how deep the water is around those islands. If it is deep enuf it will only come ashore as a slighty larger than average wave. _________________ When in doubt, kick it until it works. |

You could be right there, Dagger. I only saw a couple of references to the tsunami while I googling and from what I can gather, they weren't badly affected. _________________ My brain hurts.

It is one of the 13 most commonly used in the auto-dialer scams: Comoros, Cook Islands, Diego Garcia, French Polynesia, Kiribati, Mauritania, Nauru, Norfolk Island, Sao Tome and Principe, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tuvalu, and Wallis and Futuna. Presumably, they are legal wastelands where anything goes.
Do you have any of these on your PC?

Active Ports is a good program for monitoring programs trying to call out. Get it free here. http://www.protect-me.com/freeware.html _________________ Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will set in a boat and drink beer all day! |

How about that. I'm totally amazed that none of the anti-virus and spyware scans picked it up in that case. Thanks for the link too, Mr. Snrub. Things have been going well since I cleaned the computer off and ran the recovery discs, but I'll certainly know a bit more if something like that happens again.
Thanks for your link too, DD849.
Thanks again, everyone. You've been a great help. _________________ My brain hurts.
