This was just posted on the LHC page today (when they finally came back online from a rather long network outage) http://lhcathome.cern.ch/announcement1.html
Looks like we were a big hit with the upper level CERN management. New servers will be allocated (maybe no more database errors due to high load every time they submit new work units?)
A big to all those who shrubbed the protons!
But there still remains the problem of the silly walkers having taunted us and apparently gotten away with it. This cannot be! The following knights seem to have dismounted their LHC shrubberies:
Chelski, KWSN_Crusader, Henri Valta, Wabbit98, and KWSN - The Spirit Sweden as well as possibly Rypsta and Mirko. Lets get back to it! There are something like 70,000 work units ready to download. Get 'em while they are hot! |

This is excellent news indeed for those of us who absolutely HATE sub-atomic particles! Ohhh, I can barely contain my total disgust for these insanely tiny bits of 'er whatever they are that infect everything around and inside us! It's terrifying when you consider it even briefly with an internet-addled attention span. We want these particles to be smashed to smithereens, blitzmogrified to bits, and then zapped into the zaponosphere! I beg you, please help build the CERN LHC quickly so we can begin this momentous project to fight back against the horror of these countless invisible intruders!

Well since it also says in that announcement there will be a long down time period i have shifted my boinc focus, I have told all my boinc machines to focus on LHC untill the down time, I was focusing on CPDN sooo my CPDN output will slide a lot but seti will remain the same low output. I hope to contribute enough to maybe beat those silly walkers before the downtime. |

Well I am away from my home computer these pass 10 days so no idea what has it been doing. Left it running when I left. Now I know, but we need to find the Silly Walks team home forum and taunt them their, not on the LHC forums since that might get us all banned from LHC.
Ni
Also I hate sub-atomic particles since it proves the existence of the evil penguins. _________________

As of rightnow 7:38am PST we are roughly 73 shrubs from passing them. I have yet to still work on my 36 shrubberies that will help. _________________ When in doubt, kick it until it works. |

Way to go Knights!!
And it looks like it might be a little easier to stay ahead of them now. One of their team members (Guido) has stomped off in a tizzy about being limited to 2 posts per day on the LHC message boards. It is all really very amusing IMHO He wasn't the top member but did have a sizable contribution. According to his latest thread over on the seti@home message boards, he will not do any more LHC ever again.
Anyway, I think we will be throwing a party over on IRC tonight if anyone cares to join! |

You are only allowed two posts a day on LHC? That would suck for me.

No, silly wabbit! Normally there is no limit but Guidos constant spamming and interfering with other conversations caused the admins to smack him down whith a nice 2/day limit. Not a bad idea really... hmmm...

Which means they probably will not be back up until March or so.

If we had a two-a-day limit around here, we would barely be able to communicate with our own alter-egos, much less have any sort of conversation. It's a good thing nobody ever interfers with other conversations around here ... <glances around to see if anyone is looking at me>.
