POEM++ 2.17 Released
The new POEM@HOME version is now live. Both CPU and OpenCL versions have been updated. In combination with the release, we also started three new types of GPU work units. Special thanks go to Vladimir Tankovich, whose GPU code made this possible.
Important: If you configured your client to run multiple GPU jobs on a single ATI card, jobs may fail. We are still investigating in this case. If you get this error, please adjust your settings to only run one POEM job per GPU in the meantime.

The admin has been very active... Looks like we should free up one CPU by setting the "use at most ___% of the processors" to less than 100% to get the number you want allocated to CPU jobs, thereby freeing the others for GPU work.
A more targeted approach would be to use a config file like the following. Which I've forgotten how to do...
Code: |
<app_config>
<app>
<name>poemcl</name>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>1</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>1</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>
</app_config>

Garsh b dang nab it anyways!
My lil ole HD4870 used to run this just fine.
Now I can't get Poem to send me a WU. I've reset the prog, detached & re-attached, limiteed the CPU usamage,
written & read the config.xml and tried every which way and it still won't send me nada opencl GPU wu.

Mine sent in the first unit after 14 hours of work, but sent the second in after only 6 hours. It would appear that the gpu is working on various different kinds of WUs and possibly explains the difference in length _________________

So why can't I get any?
Did the support stop for the 4870 with this newest opencl run?
I don't see any reference to that kind of change in the POEM message boards.
Guess I'll just run Milkyway |

My second will be just as long but this is only an AMD A10 5700 so it isn't top end by any means. The first was worth 8400 credits so it isn't too shabby a return. _________________ Crabbypatty

Neither my second nor my third actually made it to the finishing line, both self destructed. Given they are failing a long way in I have decided to abandon Poem. _________________

I have 7.2.42 (x64) widget version 2.8.10 from 2013.
Does it need "upgraded" to BOINC 7.4.36? |
