In a very close vote after a five-tie, the GPU Project of the Month for the first time is Bitcoin Utopia.
Quote: | Bitcoin Utopia is a commercial platform for crowd-donations that uses Internet-connected computers to mine cryptocurrencies for incentive awards and science projects. The other purpose of mining is to secure cryptocurrency transactions against reversal.

Looks like these are the projects your shrubber can support.
Campaign 2 HopeGames – Values eMentoring Project Part 2
Campaign 3 Milkyway@home Part 2
Campaign 4 The Economic Viability of Mars Colonization publishing in Bulgarian
Campaign 5 SETI@home Annual Fund Drive
Campaign 9 The Woodward Effect
Campaign 10 SRBase fundraiser
Campaign 11 Cryonics first aid Finland
A new campaign related to RNA World may become active this month.
I s'pose Knights would be most interested in Campaigns 3, 5, and 10? Let us know with your vote or comments...
Starting Stats:
12th Place
63,149,213,309. Total points
436,254,011. average daily production past week

I would personally appreciate it if people can crank some effort into the Milkyway option please so we can end it sooner.

First time shrubbing Bitcoin and not sure I like it. If I set Boinc to suspend while I'm using the computer, the WU reverts to zero time and starts over. This is not a restart/checkpoint issue, it happens even during a temporary suspension. Looks like Bitcoin must be set to "run always". Well maybe the mega-points will be worth it?

When I looked at it earlier today it was Bitcoin 3 vs. Milky Way 2. Sorry gotta pull the trigger some time. Maybe next time we'll consider tie votes as a victory for "Vacation"? |

How long are the WUs? My production isn't what it could be as I suspend boinc when I'm home to play games. Not a habit I'm likely to change. If that will keep the WUs from advancing I will have to look elsewhere. _________________ Some days are worse than others. |

WUs for Campaign 3/Milky Way are about 1/2 hour on my machine. If you suspend a WU it restarts. That ticked me off at first, but since it shrubs only 1 WU at a time on GPU it's not a great loss really, say 10 - 20 minutes each time*. Suggest setting Boinc to "run always" when you're not gaming?

These oddly cause my system to lag while running even though it is not using the full processor or all my memory. Not sure why this is. Thoughts? _________________

Wow, about to crack 500K in one week, a record for this shrubber! About a dozen Knights shrubbing this madly - average production is up about 10%. Suggest giving it a try - it's not direct science, but you can support science projects. For example obviously you can crunch Milky Way WUs, but shrubbing Campaign 3 supports that project financially, preventing it from shutting down and helping Blurf keep his high paying position as admin.
Milestones:
lvanst 7,500,000
Plomos 5,500,000
Yankton 450,000
LanDroid 450,000
Sir Mifun Fat in a Right Place 200,000
Unfortunately looks like Campaign 3 could be a long slog...

Ni!
I do not have my GPUs pointed at BU, (they are for the other POTM), but I have moved all my ASICs to #3. I am pushing 350,000,000+ per day towards my goal of 25 BILLION! towards MW.
I ordered another ASIC this week to increase my production but the @#%@$^@# on Ebay has not shipped it. I was trying for a Billion Shrubs per day rate while BTC/USD rate is down.

BitCoin price currently down to $200. The lower it goes, the more we need to shrub! BitCoin has been in a tailspin for 6 months; this might be a good time for a gambler to buy or mine, betting on a rebound?
http://bitcoincharts.com/charts/bitstampUSD#rg180ztgCzm1g10zm2g25
If you're not familiar with it, the "long term" price history of BitCoin has been insane!
http://bitcoincharts.com/charts/bitstampUSD#rg730ztgCzm1g10zm2g25
Do any Knights mine (other than Boinc), trade, invest, or make payments in BitCoin? <-- Also axed this on Facebook.
Savor this moment: It's not often you'll find Boinc statistics, currency price charts, and transvestite action figures in a single post! Off to take my meds... Ni! |

I have a shrubber working on BTC, about 800 GH/S currently with another 5.1 TH/S coming online in the next month. Now that BTC is under $200/USD the breakeven for mining is ~$154 at $.10 per KWH. I am at $.046 per KWH so I can continue until about ~$54/btc. then I am out.
I have a Bitmain Antminer S3+ for BTC, and several Rockminer Rbox1 and 2 running my Boinc. Prices have dropped so $79 runs about 100 GH/s which is about 100 Boinc points per day. Sorry, 100 MILLION!!!!!! Buaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!
