|
Saw this on the WuProp forums:
Quote: | QMC has a new URL and new life: They have moved from Münster to Ulm (Germany), and have a new dedicated URL: http://qmcathome.org/index.html
Accounts and passwords have moved with them, so no new accounts are necessary for veterans.
Server Status is up, it's delivering WUs, but the Stats-XML page and forums are still empty.
Currently they are showing 4 apps to select from as noted at the Apps Page:
QMC@HOME-qasino-alpha
QMC@HOME-orca-alphabeta
QMC@HOME-orca-engrad-alpha
cleanmobility.now

Allrighty, I'll give it a shot. McClean McMobility says 61.17 hours...
...... "and the counting of the number shall not be 61.17"
Hope I can finish up these before they are due. I'm thinking I'll need some divine help.

Both of my cleanmobility units say 53+ hrs and these are just test units. Not even sure if they will be worth points _________________

Although it initially says Clean Mobility WU's will take 47 hours, I've had 3 finish in 7.5 - 9.5 hours. Credit 225 - 290. |

6 of 8 active WU's checkpointed within the last hour, 2 have not checked at all. Don't think stats are working, need to log into your account to see results.
Well I s'pose QMC is re-starting at Alpha status, we're helping them get things tuned up. Keep an eye on this, I'd like to add QMC to the PotM next month if we think it's ready... |

I only have one WU - 34 Hrs (so far) - 41 Est. Remaining - Still 0% Progress
http://qmcathome.org/workunit.php?wuid=23056011
Zombie67 finished the WU and awaits some 1,600+ Credits
Mine is apparently doing NOTHING! _________________

I went away for the weekend. Left the GMC@Home running with 4 WU. 2 had been running for a full day, 1 had only just started 12 hours. Checked the files when I got home today, 1 error out out apparently after 2 days. 2 are showing around 20% after 48 & 54 hours each .... but one did finish that I got 705 credits for. I feel pretty lucky after checking around. I see mostly errors with no credits for many users like this one>> http://qmcathome.org/results.php?hostid=200721&offset=0&show_names=0&state=0&appid=25 who's runtimes were very small but all 89 error-ed out. Mostly however I see a lot of HUGE run-times with lots of errors and miserly points.
I expect these last 2 WU will error out sometime within the next day or two... so I feel lucky to have at least gotten one out of four to finish in 2 1/2 days work. (4 cores but POEM was hogging one CPU core along with one GPU.)
Perhaps I'll return in September to try to add a few more CPU hours to the project stats now recorded in WUProp.
edit: Success at last !!! only 1 error, 1@35 hrs., 1@70 hrs., 1@78 hrs.
Time remaining = meaningless ... Progress bar = meaningless ... Excitement and Wonder = exceptional

Yeah these WU's are getting on my nerves too. I have one that has needed 24 minutes to complete for about the past 6 hours. Oh well, guess it's all part of a new re-start effort... |

Here's some feedback posted on the Berkeley Boinc forum. Official release in September...
Quote: | A few days ago I sent Martin Korth (Project Scientist / Administrator) an email with several observations and questions about the web site and project/tasks:
1) There is no forums at the web site as of yet. How soon will the forums return so we can post questions, problems, etc we have encountered with the software?
2) The cleanmobility.now 605 "test" tasks appear to be exceptionally long running. I have it running on 3 of my PC's and after 14+ hours one has make it to 2% completed, and the other two have restarted several times and going back to 0% completed. At this rate it will take around 700 hours to complete, which will be way past the deadline due dates. Will tasks speed up / get faster as they progress thru the compute to 100% completion?
3) The cleanmobility.now 605 "test" tasks checkpointing is way too long. It seems to checkpoint only at 1% intervals, therefore you have wasted many hours of CPU time when they restart from the last checkpoint (if any). Will future versions have checkpointing enabled more often than 1% intervals?
and received the following reply:
thanks a lot for supporting our research already at this early stage - your feedback is very much appreciated!
1) The forum will be going online with the offical project release in September.
2) The progress reporting of the app is not very good yet, average rutimes are about 1 day.
3) We work on improving the checkpointing and aim at much shorter interval times.
Best wishes & thanks again,
Martin

I just had a "meltdown" due to QMC .exe files. did a virus scan and they showed up. it really messed with Boinc. had several files error out and had to re install that Lunatics seti-optomiser.
Hope it's not too late, I noticed that those same two infected QMC files that my virus prog removed auto-replaced themselves when I fired up the BOINC client to replace all the SETI-WU's.
Sort of scarey.. my scanner said that my quarantine folder was attempted to be unlocked with a false password.
Pretty suspicious.
So I dumped it all... even the QMC related files in program data.
Rebooted computer twice and restarted BOINC client.
No harm no foul.... I hope. |
