If you were limited to shrubbing only ONE project for ONE entire year, what would it be and WHY? I guess we need to list one GPU and one CPU project. Also for projects that wrap several sub-projects, it would be more interesting to list and justify a specific sub-project. Show your passion.

I'd do SETI - Kinda like a debt to an old Friend - I got my start w/SETI and always feel I am slighting it,
what with some 60-75 Projects now - I originally felt I'd never like more than SIX, so my efforts would
not be too 'watered down'

I will pick MilkyWay@Home at home for my old 4870 AMD-ATI for the science. I think the modeling of the Milky Way Galaxy already has gone along way to helping us understand the galaxy's formation and what happens when galaxies collide. This is an important part of the overall picture we seek in our understanding the universe as we see it. If I gotta spend a years worth of effort on purchasing electrons for just one project, Milkyway@Home would be it for the GPU.
If I get to pick one more for just the CPU, I'll pick Einstein@Home, also for the science. Among some of the "REAL BIG MYSTERIES" right now is: What the hell is Dark Matter? Dark Energy seems to be the opposite of Gravity, (but we really don't know) , and Dark Matter seems to be everywhere and has a huge influence on Gravity... (Or at least trying to detect gravitational waves seems to indicate concentrations of Dark Matter.)
So, I'd pick Einstein@Home for the CPU for the same reason as MilkyWay@Home for the GPU... to help further our understanding of the Universe.

Aside from my poor experience with their mods....I miss World Community Grid for CPU but will not go back. GPU I like Milky Way.

Excellent question. For GPU, I always tend to gravitate back to MilkyWay.
For CPU, it is a more complicated question. I always liked the quantum-type projects. But Quantum Fire, Aqua and QMC are all dead. I really liked the idea of Spinhenge, but that's dead. I always wanted to get on board with Hydrogen, but that's dead. If only Shrubberies@home were alive/real. I would definitely go searching for the Holy Shrubbery!

Would absolutely be Seti...not just because I started with classic but because, to my knowledge anyway, it's the only project seeking the "unknown" whereas the other projects are seeking to expand existing knowledge.

Am I correct in that assumption? For instance, we know the Milky Way exists, therefore mapping it is expanding that knowledge whereas we have no definitive proof that life exists beyond our Earthly realm.

Gpugrid for GPU (huuuuuge score).
And Einstein@home for CPU (it is possible to find pulsar).

Would certainly run POEM because my card seems to like it best, i like the points and the science. As for cpu, i've always been intrigued by the rosetta project and its searching for cures to important diseases and over a year i could make a huuuuuge jump in points and rank.

I would shrub WCG Say No To Schistosoma. That disease is "under-crunched" compared to Malaria and Aids.
Quote:
Schistosomiasis is a tropical disease caused by parasitic worms that are transmitted by freshwater snails. The disease kills 200,000 people each year and affects over 207 million people. Schistosomiasis is second only to malaria in its socioeconomic devastation.

For me it is not a hypothetical question - since July 2012 PotM, I have shrubbed only WCG on my CPU's. All available sub-projects with very small emphasis on too local ones (CFSW) and on too green ones (e.g. CEP2) #ni-2

If I have to choose only one sub-project, it will be Help Conquer Cancer (my CPU run-time for this project is over 6 years). From purely selfish reason: both my parents died from cancer, so the results from such project might prolong my life Embarassed

GPGPU? Probably Collatz. Because guy is doing his best to bring application for all major GPU's (NVIDIA, AMD/ATI and Intel) and for all major OS'es.

#ni-1
