Quote:
Asteroids are the most numerous objects in the solar system. So far, hundreds of thousands of asteroids are known, with hundres of new discoveries every day. Altough the total number of known asteroids is large, very little is known about the physical properties of individual objects. For a significant part of the population, only the size of the bodies is known. Other physical parameters (the shape, the rotation period, direction of the rotation axis, etc.) are known only for hundreds of objects.

...The project Asteroids@home was started with the aim to significanly enlarge our knowledge of physical properties of asteroids. The BOINC application uses photometric measurements of asteroids observed by professional big all-sky surveys as well as 'backyard' astronomers. The data is processed using the lightcurve inversion method and a 3D shape model of an asteroid together with the rotation period and the direction of the spin axis are derived.

http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/

The asteroids data-base is called Database of Asteroid Models from Inversion Techniques, so let's crunch some DAMIT!

Asteroid WU properties:

OK, you talked me into it. My phone is now crunching the 'roids. Looks like they take just under a day to do (19-23 hours'ish) from other 'droids I see.

120.00 each. Interesting.

CPUs are busy with other stuff. Trying to complete a few things.

I do believe you mean 120 each WU not 120K each. If you have found a way to get 120,000 instead of 120.0 credits per unit please do tell as i would be highly interested. granted 3-3.5 hrs for 120 points is not too bad for me when i can turn in 3 or 4 at a time, but it does limit my RAC potential.

Hunting down that second rock badge now that i have gone over 10K

Wow, my phone took ~30 hours of run time, but only ~6 hours of CPU time. Kind of odd. Might be memory since I had a couple other WUs from another project being held while they crunched. I am going to get those out of the way to see if it makes a difference.

OK. OK. I'm back on the 'Stroids again looking to get my 2nd stone before end of month, at least, while still trying to keep up my RAC and pushing up my overall.
So glad you picked a project that I wanted to do.
Hold onto yer antlers, here we go.

One of my shrubbers is out of action, looks like the GPU died. Sad

I'll scrounge through the old parts bin for something to at least get the 'roids shrubbing again.

As of this morning:
In progress (22) · Validation pending (54) · Validation inconclusive (0) · Valid (155) · Invalid (0) · Error (2)

The shrubier I go, the behinder I get.

(Can I say "shrubier" without offending anyone?)
