Maybe we can have a place for PC help, be it hardware or software,
that is NOT DC related...

I'd like to set up my shiny new Cisco DPC3825

I want to relay TOR Traffic as a "tor relay", NON-Exit Node

I can access to Port Forwarding area of my Cisco OK

Online instructions are not clear what I do next, and the TOR
'Automatic Port Forwarding' does not recognize any PnP Devices.

And this is where I need to ask some hand-holding...

Thanks in advance! #ni-2

We do have a forum called "Ye Olde Help Scrolls".

I don't have any info on your Tor request, but since you are probably sensitive to security issues, you might want to disable Universal plug 'n play on that router - see below.

Well, the Forum says:
Quote:
Ye Olde Help Scrolls
Help with hardware and software issues related to running DC projects (S@H, G@H, etc.)

So that is why I specified NON-DC-Related...

I'll check out the Forbes article - Thx!

I managed to get my Port Forwarding done OK - I have Tor up and running, both my Secure Browser and as a Passive Relay (for Browsing assist to others)

Now seeing prezackly how to attempt this BitCoin Mining and see what THAT is all about... So far I have joined a 'Guild' and got my GUIMiner software, unsure if it is actually DOING something... I see it in my Tray, but cannot see it DOING anything...

Update: Found an easy way to get my feet wet - No installs needed - Not very efficient, but I'll see how this all acts...
Quote:
If you want a quick taste of mining without installing any software, try Bitcoin Plus, a browser-based CPU Bitcoin miner. As a CPU miner it's not cost-efficient for serious mining, but it does illustrate the principle of pooled mining very well.

So, maybe a slight rewording of our Forum title there? Smile

Just help in general, a hand being held out, asking for assistance from ANYBODY that may shed light on their problems, come-what-may?

Yeegadz, sounds a trifle scary, why would you want to do that?

I used to run a BBS as a Hub - Doesn't bother me at all to take a packet from here and pass it along to whoever can forward it and somehow it will get to it's destination - You wanna Browse anonymously? OK by me to go THROUGH me, but I'll not be an End Node - An exit point - Not just yet... Now THAT would make me nervous!

When the day comes they shut down the Internetz, I see us staying connected via Peer-to-Peer and Wireless like via Ham Radio - You ever Google 'Packet Switching' or 'Mesh Web'? While that would not be a TRUE Internet, it would be a way to keep in contact with others without telephones or cable TV and yet remain untraceable

Maybe I am paranoid, but they ARE out to get us...

I like it!
