I thought there was a separate forum for this but looks like I was Wrong, again...

Since Folding is the Gpu PotM, Perhaps somebody should bring me and the rest of us up to speed....

I have found the team # is 117
However,
The client is only pulling around 20% of my Gpu's each. Can I run multiple Wu's?
How do I do it?
Are there any Secret Words I should Know?

Edit: it is running between 20_30% on the Ati cards, and 80-99% on the Nvidias.

Usually, F@H discussions are under the Humanitarian Projects general topic.
However, there are more people watching the BOINC topic, so the PotM projects/polls are usually here.

First (and sadly) F@H is not a BOINC project.

Anyone who is new to F@H (or those who have not folded for quite some time), I would recommend downloading/installing the V7 client from Stanford.
http://folding.stanford.edu It's fairly easy & intuitive on how to set-up.

Our team number is 117, but you should also register your name (to see appropriate credits).
Donor names ARE case-sensitive - be careful.
I would also advise to register for a pass-key (see http://folding.stanford.edu/English/FAQ-passkey).
This is because they are tying QRB (quick return bonus) to donors who have a pass-key (and higher-end GPUs).

Once you've got the pass-key, you should save it somewhere.
Both in electronic form (save the email as txt, etc) *AND* write it down on a piece of paper and store it where it will be unlikely to go missing.
(I have mine written down and stored under one of my monitor-stands).

As for GPU usage...
Sometimes it can take up to 5 minutes for the WU to properly set itself up.
Some of the more complex WUs will take time to initialize memory areas and do a quasi-compile or "optimizing" for the available hardware.
But for the most part, it should run at 99 or 100%.
Also, some of the WUs will run so "tightly" that the temps will shoot-up more than others - even though they all appear to run at full-tilt!

For the first week or so, pay attention to temps.
I'm not familiar with the TDPs of all GPUs, but here's my recommendations for what I have experience with:
GT series (GT, GTS, and GTX-2xx) - sustainable high-end thermal limit: ~90c
GTX-4xx/5xx (Fermi) - sustainable high-end thermal limit: ~85c
GTX-6xx (Kepler) - sustainable high-end thermal limit: ~78c

Sorry not doing folding until it becomes a Boinc project.

It's doubtful that F@H will explore participation in BOINC again.
There were some discussions/negotiations quite a few years ago (in 2006), but they couldn't come to an agreement.
See http://folding.stanford.edu/English/FAQ-highperformance (scroll to end-of-page).
The FAQ says "staffing issues", but we know this actually means personality conflicts & egomania Rolling Eyes

EDIT: Could we entice you with some nice, tasty Llama jerky???

From Folding Forum thread .
If you installed any AMD Catalyst drivers after 12.8 and your GPU usage is severely nerfed this worked for me and a couple of others.

1 - Uninstall current Catalyst Driver in the Windows Control Panel. Reboot in Safe Mode
2 - Run CCleaner registry cleaner. Backup changes to registry and fix all selected issues. Reboot
3 - Run Atiman Uninstaller v.7.0.2. System will automatically reboot
4 - Install Catalyst 12.8. Reboot
5 - Install AMD_Catalyst_12.9_CAP1. Reboot
6 - Run folding client to ensure that gpu usage is at max.

Yeah - I saw other forums complaining about Catalyst drivers.
Apparently ATI has more problems (than Nvidia) with drivers. Shocked

But AFAIK, the new Core_16 from F@H already works for ATI (but not Nvidia, yet).

EDIT: If this actually works, you may want to re-post those instructions under the "Help Scrolls" area.

Using just the GPU client (available here ) I've been getting the super fast GPU work. If you want to avoid SMP/CPU work.

Ok, Well, the uninstall thingie didn't do Diddley....
I'm running 12.8 instead of the 12.11 beta 8 drivers
Wasted about an hour of my time & folding, Gonna try the Gpu2 thingie....

I gotta say, I'm not impressed with folding's "user friendly-ness" I am layed off right now, but if I was working I really would not have time for this crap.

Unless there is some noticeable progress with the Gpu-2 thingie, I will go back to 700k shrubs a day in Boinc with No regrets...

At present your GPU is not supported or you need a current driver.
You may wish to consider running our standard client,
which you can download at folding.stanford.edu

Sorry, I Quit.
2.5 hours, half a dozen restarts, uninstalls, downloads, cleaning, Safe Modes, Re-installs..... Please feel free to make this PotM when it becomes "User Friendly"

Now I have to Uninstall, Restart in Safe Mode, Clean & Re-install just to get back to where I was Yesterday, There goes my Morning.... #Mad
