If you're having a problem getting WUs from POEM, then this message on the POEM messageboard,
Quote: | the GPU job generator is running, but has been slowed down by a recently running cronjob and could not fit the high request. The number of unsent workunits should stabilise now.
New hardware for our server has already been ordered, and will be installed during the next weeks to hopefully avoid such bottlenecks.

I have a Gazillion, I have had no problems getting work....
I'm running 5 per hour and I have several days worth
Whoa,.... Something happened here.... My Wu times are down to ~30 min. and Credits are still the same for each Wu.
Gonna be a GOOD Day!!!
Duh, I was wrong... 2 cores got stuck. 3 Wu's ran for 29 hours. I had to restart the machine, I'm screwed today _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

It probably is, I was adjusting buffers on my desktop in light of the hurricane and nor'easter here in NJ and realized I made a typo, instead of having the Max buffer be 1.5 days, it was at 15.0. Doh!
Really my intention was for us knights to corner the market on WUs! Yeah that was definitely my plan, and I am sticking to it! _________________

There might not be more GPU work until Monday, so it might be a brilliant plan!

Thomas Koch (Project administrator, Project developer & Project scientist) has posted this
Quote: | Sorry for that... we are having some server issues. Sorter and Feeder have just been restarted, I hope this will do it for now. I'm keeping an eye on it.

Seems like the brilliant plan was n't so brilliant!

POEM should change it's name to popular, I think. Some "donor" says he's/she's downloaded 200 GPU WUs to work on.
Going like hot cakes ... _________________

Or to something else close to "Do not allow dogs to run around our shrubberies". I just hope they will close their doors soon. _________________

I really hope I didn't cause any fellow kinnigits any distress. (I really don't care what anybody but my shrubbery mates think!)
After fixing my typo, I have my cache back down to a normal level. 8 cores and 2 GPUs made very quick work of that backlog. _________________

Looks like the GPU donors at POEM are getting miffed by the lack of work ...
Be careful with those pitchforks! _________________

I have been running Poem with the 12.11 Beta 4 drivers and running 2 Wu's on each core with a completion time of between 1:10 & 1:30.
Today I upgraded to the 12.11 Beta 8 drivers and Times dropped to between 1:01 & 1:10.
Time to upgrade Folks

Might be easier for GPU work at POEM as apparently Help Conquer Cancer is back up soon according to a message a POEM.

I have moved back to Moo Wrapper which has plenty of GPU work.

Latest update on POEMs lack of GPU work,
Thomas Koch (Project administrator, Project developer & Project scientist)
Quote: |
Hi everybody,
I have to apologize for the long period of silence regarding this topic, but I didn't want to give any misleading information before we discussed the problem here.
We are still waiting for our new server hardware, but unfortunately this won't fix the problem here entirely.
Fact is, these GPU calculations are running so rapid, that we have to evaluate real floods of information. We were talking about possibilities to send out more GPU work units, but at the moment there is no way to process it in time.
I want to thank all of you for spending so much computing time. It's absolutely okay to give your GPU power to another project now, there may be more use for it at the moment. The crystallization studies will still continue, but the follow-up projects with GPU support are not yet in a state to be sent out over the BOINC network, so the situation is not likely to get better in the near future.
I hope you can understand this, and are still willing to support us.
Best regards
Thomas

You know, over the last couple of days I screwed up and lost all my Wu"s.
Twice. Now I have plenty again. I just had to sit and "update" 15 to 20 times an hour. I go thru ~ 6 an hour and I have a couple of days worth now and yesterday afternoon I had Zero.
I don't know why but I have had no real problems getting them.
I have about 200 now
I just hit Update, got 0,5,0,0,0,3 each time _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......
