What OS are you using? If you have Vista or 7 it might be a permission problem. How is your network connection? _________________

You might need to restart it. It could also depend if you have internet access when it tried to connect. maybe make sure you have an updated version of BOINC as well.

If you think Win7 is an 'adjustment', just browse around the net for the wailing, gnashing-of-teeth, tearing-of-cloth, and breaking-of-pottery regarding Win8.
From what I can gather, there's going to be some segment of the power-user community that will hold on to Win7 for as long as they can, but eventually they will jump over to some Linux distro (Mint, Ubuntu, etc).
And I'm with them in that regard!
The power-user community is put-off by Microsoft's attempt to "protect users from themselves".
Gaining access to the under-pinnings of the OS is being noticeably restricted under Win8 (think Mac/OS).
While most casual users will find Win8 to be "easier", this comes at the expense of the power-user who wants to tweak-n-tinker with the components under-the-hood.
