Rosetta credits are much more valuable than others. Rosetta points are like dollars, pounds, or Euro. DistRTgen points and others are more like Italian Lira. Do not be fooled into believing the exchange rate is equal! Razz

We're going to shrub over 100K in "extra-value" points today...

Too bad the lira no longer exists.

I dont exsist as far as this peoject is concerned, these points are rubbish, Im going backwards against people who aint even here.

regardless of the quality of the points Im out of this one guys.

I did check out the work done and it ranged from 1 to 42 but that didnt seem to effect the points granted, neither did the cpu seconds. I think they just have a monkey hitting keys at random, one unit that took 8000 sec got me 8 credits and the rest were just random numbers.

Things are working much better now. I went from 7.0.25 to 7.0.26 and now to 7.0.27. I also reduced my WU size to about 1hr. This last day I have only had 1 compute error as opposed to about 50% prior. Let's hope it keeps up and that either the project or boinc finally figure out the root cause.

As far as credits, Rosetta has been a long time low payer. But it often is justified due to more 'beneficial' science. It's often hard for me to say which science is more beneficial than the next, but 'meh'. I'd encourage everyone to give a good effort but your computer cycles are yours to do as you please. What ever the effort, make sure you are doing for mass amount of shrubberies, world domination or the location of the Holy Shrubberies (my personal favorite).

Keep on Shrubbin'! #ni-1

For the first time there is significant doubt whether humans can improve upon the results from computers. So this could be a very exciting CASP.

So this competition is not just Boinc Vs. Independent Labs, it is also Boinc against Humans! Shocked

Rosetta@home have been approaching the 200 teraflops barrier, from an average of 120Tflps a few days ago. It´s a quite nice improvement.

The Rosetta project is seeing a large jump in overall production...

So what seems like the best "Target CPU run time" to aim for?

and have we heard any updates on when POEM is joining in? or if any other projects are joining in on it?

Looks like most Rosetta crunchers use the default 3 hour run time and a cache of 0.25 days. Keep an eye on completion times: Rosetta would like to have results in 2 days so they can analyze and report to CASP within 3 days. Howver, if you miss the 2 or 3 day deadlines, you will still get full credit. They are not going to reduce the current 10 day deadlines for CASP WU's, although that would be easier on users, it's more complicated on their end. Troll through here for more detail:
http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=5963

As to POEM, no new info since the following post on 4/20/12 except their CASP10 WU's will be CPU only.

Our first step after receiving the prediction targets will be modelling, which will take place on local servers only. I expect the boinc jobs for the relaxation phase to go out in the second half of May. CASP-related jobs will be identifiable by their name.
