You might want to test a few POEM WU's for three reasons: they have new GPU apps available, they updated their server software to accomodate that, plus they also started a new CPU app.
Quote: | GPU app release
Alright, the first linux OpenCL application is out. If you want to use it, you should use the latest BOINC prerelease (the non-stable releases are usually here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/ ). All the versions below showed some bugs, we could not workaround on the server. You should then check that your BOINC client reports an OpenCL capable card (AMD needs OpenCL 1.0, Nvidia 1.1).
Edit: I just got the first GPU workunit from the production server and it's running. Please post your results here; especially your used GPU. Thanks
Edit 2: The credits were too low for these workunits due to our mistake; they have been adjusted upwards also for already retrieved workunits. 16 Dec 2011
GPU Server Upgrade, Drug Development workunits
The server was just upgrade to the bleeding edge server code of the BOINC developers. The reason is simple: There were still many showstopper OpenCL bugs in the code, which should now be out. In fact: Theoretically before the fixing of those bugs no AMD/ATI OpenCL BOINC project should have worked whatsoever. If everything goes along plan, you should see the first OpenCL app for Linux today. At the same time we are releasing the first CPU workunits for drug development today. CPU Workunits will be called firstdrug, GPU workunits will be called gpucrystal. Thanks for your patience! 16 Dec 2011

Please post if double precision is needed for these projects as some of us do not have that. |

As of now, it is out for Linux only. It is for OpenCL gpus both ATI and Nvidia. AFAIK, opencl is mostly in the modern gpus but not necessarily double precision.
I think the plans are also for a Windows app some time in the future. _________________

I tried installing a newer BOINC client, but it seems every client from 6.12 and up requires libssl1.0.0.
Searching the package manager for libssl only gives one result, and that is the libssl0.9.8 that I already have installed...
Anyone know how to get the libssl1.0.0 package for Ubuntu?

Just finished a couple with my 5870 (ATI). You'll need a beta release of boinc, I'm using 7.0.3. Boinc Manager said they were processing at .97 cpu and 1 gpu. But I did not see any utilization in task manager for cpu. (It was probably intermittent and I just didn't see it). I also did not see hardly any gpu utilization in my CCC. It would pop up with about 15% every once in a while.
Each task tool about 4.5-5 hrs and payed 19k-23k in credit.
Just FYI _________________

Huh, must have been me. I was on 6.something.something and it didn't want to download any WUs. Then I sifted through the message boards and found that somebody suggested upgrading to 7.x.x and then I got WUs... _________________

I downloaded and ran a Test WU fine when I installed Poem but now they're saying I need to upgrade Boinc to do further WU's. Makes no sense and I'm not upgrading. _________________

It seems POEM pays better on ATI than Moo! I think the highest I ever got with Moo! for RCA was about 80K with my 2 cards. POEM is over 100K in just a few days and still rising. |

Yes, but I did not get any WU from them for more than a day _________________

I have been getting steady work. They have filled their queues and it's been awesome.
I started out at about 1.2M just about 5 days ago, I am at 2.5M today already. |

Pooh Bear, out of curiosity what is your current POEM configuration?
Lately, I have my 5770 doing 2 WUs with .5 CPU a piece and that's giving me about 145,00 a day.
The 5870 is running 4 WUs with .5 CPU a piece and has been getting 160-200K a day but that rig is shut down each day to please the wife and convince her that it saves some money in the power bill
I tried combinations to include a full cpu core for each WU, but decided against it so that I could still do some work in other projects. _________________

I detached it and attached it again and got a WU. Hope this simple solution will help _________________

Running all my I7s at 50% (4 cores). My machines seem to behave best this way. Poem is currently 1 per GPU (5770 and 5670). Since it's only been 5 days I am unsure where they will top out. |

POEM is ready to be a GPU PotM (at least for ATI cards, someone can pipe up on NVidia)!!!
I have been running my low end 5670 and 5770 cards on here this month and have gained over 5M this month already, and the month is not over. My RAC sits about 119K for the 5770 and 70K for the 5670. They have not run out of tasks at all.
Tasks pay 2925.23 each.
5670 does one task about every hour (3600 seconds)
5770 does one task about ever 40 mins (2400 seconds)
Yes you need BOINC 7.x in order to run the GPU.
We could make a good dent on this project. Currently KWSN is ranked 35th in credits but only 38th on RAC. We are on the heels of a few teams. |

I could check on my GPU for nVidia (laptop has a Kepler based GPU), hopefully if what you're finding on ATI, it'll pay at least better then GPUgrid.... Hmm... This will take a few moments to get back with something.... But of course that's assuming all of your RAC was from GPU only, and not from CPU + GPU.... _________________
