By a decisive 9 to 4 vote over WCG, Constellation is the CPU Project of the Month for October 2011.
Quote: | Constellation is a platform for research projects that use Internet-connected computers to do research in various aerospace related sciences and engineering. Currently we are working on...
* TrackJack: trajectory optimization of launchers, satellites and probes (subtask for DGLR-Group HyEnD - Hybrid Engine Development)
* On The Moon: simulation of Moon's near-surface exosphere
* Extreme Machine: analysis of dynamic systems of exploration-rovers
Address to attach project:

I have checked the WUprop numbers for my CPU and it is supposed to take ~26 hrs to finish. I turned off some other useless processes and the new WUs are making much better progress. Also from looking at the preferences for the project right now the only thing it runs is TrackJack and a beta version of it. Nothing about the other two listed _________________

How long are Constellation WU's and does 64-bit give better credit? _________________

WU's take ~5 hrs. on my PhenomII x6 machines, slightly longer on my Q9400, but only 2.5 hrs. on my i5. Very consistent on a particular machine.
I don't think there's an advantage for 64 bit.

keep running into
879 Constellation 9/27/2011 11:47:01 PM Task trackjack_hyend_www.hybrid-triebwerk.de_2011-09-23_00_173083_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file
880 Constellation 9/27/2011 11:47:01 PM If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project.
I have already reset the project once and the progress is still crawling, does the project just hate me? Other WUs from different projects have no problem running and finishing for me but this one just doesn't want to play nice _________________

19.8K shrubbed yesterday. I suspect this will be a slow ramp up due to PG challenge.
Newbie Milestones:
DoW passed 40,000
Mildew 10,000
Yankton 9,000
Blurf passed 500
Nuadormrac passes 500
Farren 200
PhastPhred passed 200
LanDroid passed 200 |

Well technically it doesn't begin until tomarrow. Though and that said, yoyo gave so many probs getting work, I switched over early. It was only giving me 2-3 WUs on a duel core, even as I bumped it up to a 10 day queue to try to force it to give me more tasks. It'd say "112 hours to complete" and then finish in 8, while never seeming to adjust the average downward. Good ridance yoyo _________________

21 Russia Team 10 10,390 488,607
22 The Knights Who Say Ni! 19 6,798 357,971
We should be able to jump Russia quick enough but we need to gear up a bit. _________________

This project is getting kind of annoying. I have a 3 core processor, so I'm used to having 3 WU's being worked at the same time. However with Constellation, 18 WU's are being crunched with a range or 90 seconds to almost 7 hours per so far. It's as if the Boinc client thinks they're different projects although they are all Trackjack 0.10. Between that and 6 more WU's to go, not sure when I'll ever complete one and actually report results... I'm up to a walloping 1900 pts in one week. But at least I'm ahead of John Galt 007 for a few more minutes!

You have a three core processor? That's odd.
But seriously, (I'm on SIMAP for another day), when I last crunched Constellation completion times were pretty consistent, ~2.5, ~5, ~6 hrs., depending on the shrubber. _________________

Yes a 3 core, queer as a.....well never mind. I figgered out what to do with this project attempting to crunch 18 WU's at once - I suspended about a dozen. Once it crunches those 6 down, I'll resume some more. I thought the Boinc client was s'posed to do those functions.
Production is moving up, KWSN crunched 57K yesterday and we passed team Guru Mountain.

John Galt 007 passes 25,000

Constellation behaves very well on all my shrubbers. Extremely consistent, but it can use a lot of memory, >1.5GB/WU

Landroid, what version of boinc are you on? Maybe that has something to do with it. My 4 core does 4 WUs at a time with no issues. _________________

6.12.34 (x86) Hmmmm it could be that I updated to the 32 bit version instead of 64? Running Win 7 64 bit. |

Dang it, now it's doing the same thing with another project - trying to crunch a dozen WU's at once, so it must be the Boinc client itself. If a re-boot doesn't fix it, I may have to roll back to an earlier version? |

Don't know. You are on the 'latest and greatest' stable release. I was just throwing that out there in case you were on some oddball release version. I've been on 6.12.33 because I haven't gotten around to upgrading yet. I know they had some troubles with the 6.13 line, but that's in testing right now anyway. Have you been downloading goat pr0n again?!?
