Leishmaniasis is a disease caused by protozoan parasites that belong to the genus Leishmania and is transmitted by the bite of certain species of sand fly (subfamily Phlebotominae). Although the majority of the literature mentions only one genus transmitting Leishmania to humans (Lutzomyia) in the Americas, a 2003 study by Galati suggested a new classification for the New World sand flies, elevating several subgenera to the genus level. Elsewhere in the world, the genus Phlebotomus is considered the vector of leishmaniasis.
Most forms of the disease are transmissible only from animals (zoonosis), but some can be spread between humans. Human infection is caused by about 21 of 30 species that infect mammals. These include the L. donovani complex with three species (L. donovani, L. infantum, and L. chagasi); the L. mexicana complex with four main species (L. mexicana, L. amazonensis, and L. venezuelensis); L. tropica; L. major; L. aethiopica; and the subgenus Viannia with four main species (L. (V.) braziliensis, L. (V.) guyanensis, L. (V.) panamensis, and L. (V.) peruviana). The different species are morphologically indistinguishable, but they can be differentiated by isoenzyme analysis, DNA sequence analysis, or monoclonal antibodies.
Cutaneous leishmaniasis is the most common form of leishmaniasis. Visceral leishmaniasis is a severe form in which the parasites have migrated to the vital organs.
More than a million people should have died since the 19th Centurie but much more are aftected by this disease and his spreading due to climate changing. Yes mosquitos can spread after some small warming. _________________ Friends are like diamonds and diamonds are forever.

Pickedd up a couple of WCG WUs but it seems it wants to give me AIDS instead of giving me Leishamiansis WUs, but I'm too lazy at the moment to go in and force it to give me those so I'll run AIDS for a bit _________________

You could have linked to the images with a warning rather than insert them. _________________

Eew duke, i now know why this disease needs to go away, it's terribly non pretty looking. Anyways I finished my AIDS run so have now begun the WU for this and its sitting nicely at 3% for the last 3+ hours with 3 days to go. Wow that's a lot of 3s, should be nice credit this way and hopefully really help out all the folks who need it. Oh and not to worry I am still trimming tree branches for yoyo at the same time

Crunching for a better world int he best of my abilities. Too much Boinc and only one computer but I am doing my part. Thanks for your Help Plomos.
There was a forest fire, and while all the animals were running scared, a little hummingbird was going from the river to the fire taking droplets of water in its beak.
The Lion, seeing that asked the hummingbird:
- Do you think you can put out the fire yourself with such a small drop of water?
And the hummingbird replied:
- That I do not know, but I'm doing my duty. _________________ Friends are like diamonds and diamonds are forever.

Same here mate, turned in my AIDS WU earlier and found it odd what BoincTasks listed as the completed and reported time. Came back like this
Completed: 9/13/11 12:19:50 AM
Reported: 9/14/11 1:26:28 PM
This is odd because the progress didn't show it was done until the 1 PM time and then i reported it right away so I have no idea how it thinks it completed 12 hours earlier but oh well it still counted _________________

No app running. Well try to restart or reinstall first the Project then Boinc itselfe. Go to the project and Reset the project or detach and reattach the project. That should be enough. If you still have problems reinstall Boinc.

I think its because I didn't suspend it myself before the laptop restarted so it hit an error in trying to close it. Should be good to go now though, thanks for the tip duke, if it keeps happening I'll reconnect to the project _________________

Just have Windows check for updates, but wait for you to OK installing them.

Probably because Windows keeps popping up a balloon saying there's a problem with your computer, "You don't have windows set to install updates automatically. Click here to fix this problem." Yeah, right.
