Someone suggested starting this now to avoid a month end rush, so here goes... This is last month's ballot with Rosetta removed. Not sure we're as interested in tanutting as we claimed, remove some of those choices?

Taunt Kows in all projects
Taunt Boinc Synergy in their POTM
Go for # 1 in Dist. Data Mining / taunt everyone
ABC
Docking / Taunt Team Phoenix Rising
Edges
Einstein
Majestic 12
Malaria Control
Milky Way
Muon 1
Prime Sierp. Prob. (Non-Boinc)
RSA Lattice Sieving
Sudoko@vtaiwan
Vacation / No POTM

Any comments on this - projects to add or delete? Do we want to stay with the taunting options? If not, I'll post this shortly so we have more time to vote...

Simap has had steady work for a few months now.

NFS maybe?
Enigma
Poem
QMC
Yoyo
WCG

Maybe an option that has two or three of the projects with intermittent work?

Simap sounds great if the work is steady.

I've always been interested in a multi-PotM made up of several intermittent projects, but haven't seen much interest - perhaps that will catch on. What would be a good group to crunch?

Regarding the other projects that Yankton posted, they have all been PotM previously. We're trying to crunch most of the projects once before doing too many repeats. Although we can abandon that goal if we're losing interest in the rest of the list up top. (Docking and Dist. Data Mining on there strictly for the taunut energy.) I thought Enigma was completed/dead, guess not?

Need more feedback... 'Til then I'm planning on adding Simap and deleting Sudoku.

Sudoku has work, I'm doing some now. It's their member database that is funky. If you've done the project before just go create an account with the same name you used before and they'll take it from there.

Simap has been steady for several months, which probably means they'll run out as soon as we pick it for something like this, but hey, these things happen.

Majestic 12 is only good if you have oodles of bandwidth and an ISP that won't dump you for using it like that

I haven't been following many of the intermittent projects lately. Maybe someone else knows more. Lattice & Cosmology maybe?

38 days was before it got chosen as PotM! But then we could do something else when we clean them out!

I'd like to try something new. Any more recent projects with work we can get involved in? Muon 1 would be good I guess. Although, I admit I'm not sure if it's all that new, or I'm just not familiar with it.

Tis not so new. But it doesn't require boinc. Might be neat.

Got it. I thought maybe this was a Boinc version of Muon. I've run Muon off and on and would be happy to go with it. Folks just need to pay attention when they set it up to make sure the team credit is attributed correctly.

If you want to Boinc Muon, you can do Yoyo.

That doesn't look like a real sentence... Confused

That's right droid! We're throwing down the gauntlet.

We're challenging you and your team to a Race to 15th Place!

Does KWSN have what it takes to beat us there? I'm not sure that you do, but if you accept our challenge, we'll definitely get a buttload of science done in the process and that's what counts.

I must warn you though, the last time a team taunted us, they got a bit more then they bargained for. It was back in August of 08' while we were stagnant back in 109th place, and look at us now.

So now we have a new wrinkle - how do we address this challenge from The Overclockers - a race to 15th place in Rosetta? Put it on the ballot? Pick up the gauntlet and slap some folks with it?

I say put it on the ballot--it gets an equal shot with the other opportunities

Before you vote for the OC challenge, be aware of the numbers.

We should go past BOINC@AUSTRALIA today (to 18th), then OC will pass us 2 days later.

OC are currently crunching ~150k/day, we're doing ~125k, so we need an extra 25k just to match them; they can almost certainly ramp up quite a bit more.

At current rates, 15th place will be SETI.Germany (@90k/day), who we'll pass in ~800 days, or April 2013; that's at a score of ~160M (we're currently at 74M). Even if we could up our production to 200k/day (double our last month production), it would still take until next Christmas to get there.

A suggestion might be to modify the challenge to 1st to 100,000,000, but that would still take us until next autumn.

Another thing to bear in mind is that Rosetta is a pretty poor payer, there are a lot of other projects out there giving much better returns, e.g. Docking (staying with Bio projects).

Personally, I start to get bored with the PotM after 2-3 weeks and start looking forward to the next one; I'm sure there are many other kNi!ggits with an equally impressive attention span. Cool

I'm not interested in shrubbing Rosetta for the rest of the year. Count me outif that's the decision.
