Also seems like the stats exports are all messed up. Ibercivis website shows (what looks like) current stats, but both FreeDC and BOINCstats have not been updated for awhile. _________________

I have been running that quantum thingie as a back up due to the unreliability of our current PotM. I am running about 5k a day on quantum and about 1k on Ibciverus... This project is a disaster.... defiantly not ready for the Vault.... _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

I'd like to come up with a semi-formal report to the Vault on our POTM experience. Suggest giving a few details and a recommendation?
From my perspective (1 computer w/3 cores), I never ran out of Ibercivis work so the server problems weren't a big deal. Did other kanigits run out of work? The blip with statistics and the correction was highly annoying, but I got over that quickly. The lack of an official forum is bad, no way to find out wazzup with a problem that I can see.
However, easily distracted kanigits will agree the flying colors in the following link make up for a lot of sins!
http://www.ibercivis.es/index.php?module=public§ion=channels&action=view&id_channel=8&id_subchannel=111
Can we say Ibercivis is OK for the casual cruncher, but it can't handle heavy hitting from a team? (Not sure if that makes much sense, too early in the day... ) We should say something about the point system being too stingy to hold the interest of stat ho's? |

The fact that their quorum is lower than the initial replication is a big turn off for me. I won't do their project again until that is changed. _________________ Some days are worse than others. |

The work supply problems I had were never a big issue. When it didn't have work it usually sent on the next request. I'd tell the vault people that it's no worse than some of the things they have included. _________________ A Shrubbery for Prez. Let's put more bushes in the whitehouse.

I had some major work supply issues.
On most of my machines it would not give me more than one WU per core and it would occasionally say that I wouldn't finish in time even when it was the only cpu project.. My boxes sat idle much of the time until I attached to Quantum Fire.... _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

It means people would get 0 credits for completing the work unit because they would send it to 3 people, and only give credit to the first two to send results in. Wasted CPU cycles - a rather poor setup that does not inspire shrubbers to return. _________________ Some days are worse than others. |

How do we identify the quorum/replication requirements for a project? This is something we should consider before voting on a POTM? |

If you go look at your work units on a projects site, it will tell you the initial replication, quorum and allowable number of errors for a work unit. It may vary by sub-project as well, I'm not sure. Should be pretty easy to scope out, but I don't think I've personally encountered this situation outside of ibercivis. _________________ Some days are worse than others. |

Actually, it used to be a very widespread practice for projects that wanted results returned quickly.
The third person is not necessarily shanked credits. As long as they return it within the deadline, the credits are awarded. I don't know how Ibercivis does it because I don't care enough to look, but not awarding credits is rare at best.
Yes, you can argue for wasted CPU cycles. That's more of a philosophical debate about speed vs. contribution and I won't go there right now. _________________ A Shrubbery for Prez. Let's put more bushes in the whitehouse.

well, I was returning WUs the same day I got them, but I was the third one to return them and received 0 credits. They have no forum to discuss it on, so at the very least, I won't be there again.
