|
|
Please vote for Project of The Month from the list above. The concept is KWSN members should allocate as many crunching assets to that project as feasible during the month of February.
X NFS
This number indicates how many points your systems should earn relative to last month's POTM, NFS. For example 1.50 means the project should earn 50% more points than NFS given the same computing power. (Thanks again stooper101!)
Stomp Factor
My subjective rating of the number of teams we could stomp during the month. (Look for more detailed stats on this from Al Dente below.)
Zero = We're solid, but probably can't move up.
Low = We might move up 1 or 2 places with some luck.
Medium = We could move up say 3 to 5 places.
High = We should stomp a bunch of teams on this project!
Also see details on KWSN rankings and RAC in my signature file.
I apologize for the delay, should have posted this several days ago! _________________

I was sorely tempted by RCN, but, despite the abysmal points, I'm with John on this one; although it would need a couple of good months to get back into the 2-digit positions.
I need to keep a bit on a couple of other projects to protect hard-won UK positions.... and the PG challenge..... and SIMAP. But at least a 50% month from me.

We could gain more spots in RCN. Though I am not happy about our 111th position in WCG.

I didn't vote for it, but I guess I'm in for WCG, too. _________________

Thanks, Adam....
ohiomike....you in too??? |
Hum... I generally do not run projects that have commercial ties.
Are we going to get a discount on any drugs or treatments discovered?
Do we get a say in which greedy drug manufacture gets the rights to our results?
I will have to do some thinking on this.

In as much as IBM has donated the servers and continues to pay for the bandwidth, ongoing expenses, etc. it is a commercial project. However, the research is no different than any other biological project on BOINC.
WCG exists to provide the infrastructure for humanitarian research projects that cannot afford to run their own BOINC structure
.
Now, if you were to also say that you are unwilling to participate in a project that is hosted by a university I could find some consistency. IBM does not benefit from this research other than goodwill and PR. It is a donation that they can easily afford and I commend them for doing it.
This misconception has gone on so long that it actually has a life of its own now. It's easier to kill vampires. _________________ A Shrubbery for Prez. Let's put more bushes in the whitehouse.
