Hi, a month ago, I got an ATI HD5770 as a kind of payment, thought I try it with Collatz C. , since they have 'stock app.'s', running ATI (CAL) GPU's.

Now, I've reached 2 Million Cobblestones, (ehh, well the card did, anyway Embarassed

)
Maybe the Project overpays?

Congrats on 2 mil!

I'm crunching Collatz and it has blessed me with many fine shrubberies

of which I am thankful for. As for the credit issue, I've learned from those people who sound like they know more about the issue than me. Namely Slicker, that Bender fellow, and a few others. Apparently then credit is similar (if not less) than other projects running on a standard cpu app. But since the gpu runs this app so much better, and there happens to be an app that is optimized, then you get through the work much faster and gain many credits. So, anyway, I just take what comes and soak up all the shrubbing goodness. Whatever that may be. #ni-1

I think other Knights are crunching that project as well for the amount of points you get.

Yup.

The way I understand it is that GPUs act like an awful lot of CPUs running in parallel.

I know my Nvida flies through these work units.

I can't remember but I think that my GPU runs a WU about 20 times faster than the CPU, For the same amount of points....

Here is a video demonstration showing the conceptual differences between CPU and GPU computing.

This is an Nvidia promotion - but the same concept holds for ATI.

The HD 5770 is quite a powerful card - you scored an excellent shrubber!
