Well for myself, my pair of PS3s died, which killed my rac (and my drive to check the site daily).
Plus I was looking for, buying, moving into, and fixing up a house.
In addition work has become much more restrictive on internet usage, for some reason they want us to work while at work, go figure?
Not like I used to post all the time anyway, but that explains my departure for the past 5 months or so. _________________

You puked a PS3 too huh? Mine dropped it's optical drive months back but I got it back crunching via USB and have pretty much abandoned it for gaming. _________________

two, i killed two of them. At $400 a pop (which they were back then), i cant afford to do that again. i was able to get sony to fix one of them for free, the other one they wanted $150 to fix. so i now have one PS3 for playing games/blu-rays (no more boinc), and i have one that makes a great door stop. _________________

My thinking is " If Sony wants $150.00 to fix it, then you should be able to fix it for about $20.00"
Acer wanted $450.00 to replace the screen on my laptop. I got the part for $100.00 and did it myself. It took me 3 hours, but the next one will take only about 20 min.
( yes I am sure there will be a "Next one", I am a bull in a china shop) _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

Actually PS3 parts are expensive, because they are specific. The firmware on every part is specific to that version, and nothing can vary or it won't work.
For example, they're on their 3rd or 4th optical drive now. Each of those 4 uses different firmware and will only work with THAT generation of controller. I know this because I've been looking for a replacement optical drive for mine.
You can't even tell what generation parts you have until you take the system almost fully apart. There are small "not Sony" shops that will do the optical replacement for about $90. Sony wants $150, charges shipping both ways, and will not guarantee the $150 price, as it may require additional parts to fix.
Just hasn't been worth $90 to me to have it fixed. May never be, kinda over it as a gaming platform. Now it crunches, and when it stops doing that it'll go in the bin. _________________

No, I don't play Mafia Wars. The whole facebook thing was getting a bit painful - the thousands of applications, friend requests from strange people, all the publicity about the security issues. Almost took mine down in the end, but it is a good way to stay in touch with family and friends, and the team, if you can ignore all the rubbish stuff.
Popped in for a quick visit last night and then again today. Still trying to get used to the changes.
The games are a bit crap. I prefer the games at pogo. Heaps of good ones, and much better quality. If anyone wants a 5 day guest pass for club pogo, let me know. I've got 7 to give away at the moment.
Crap, now I can't remember what I was going to post here.
Oh yeah. Sorry I haven't been around much. I've been busy and feeling a bit down in the dumps and not much like socialising.
Finished my Diploma of Arts, started a Bachelor of Arts, trying to find a job, financial stress, ongoing health stress, probably pre-menopausal.
But anyway, I did get a chance to do some unpaid work experience at the local newspaper.

http://www.frasercoastchronicle.com.au/story/2009/11/21/range-of-sports-to-play-at-allstarr-holiday-clinic/
I did a lot more than that, mostly briefs and press releases, but these were what I found in the online versions.
I've decided to try and stop stressing so much and getting depressed about not being able to find a job. My son is working now and he has been really good with helping out with bills etc.
I've decided instead to just stay focused on studying, and I've also started digging out my old short stories and stuff that I've written over the years and never seriously tried to get published. Plenty of rewriting to do before I send them out to magazines etc.
Waiting to hear back from one magazine, and two stories are nearly ready to send off to another.
Wish me luck! _________________ My brain hurts.

I'm joining a new company as of tomorrow. I didn't lose my job, we got bought out. I'll endeavor to be more regular as I expect to be in front of the PC more, now that I have to struggle to learn the wily ways of the new company .

Maffia War's, except being a real thing, don't know 'the Game' .
But, I obviously, didn't look to hard, or somebody beats me to it.
[This was ADDED a few minutes later]
First post this year, you certainly can say, not very much activity
Looked (lurked) at Collatz . . . Why do they give so much credit? Or is it about the same as other projects, considering the amount of FLOPS being processed?
