Adam,

You have to copy 3 DLLs and rename them before it will work (this is caused by the fact they're using an old CAL version that's hard coded to look for the 3 files with the old name).

1. Open command prompt as Administrator
2. execute "cd %systemroot%\system32"
3. execute "copy atical*.dll amdcal*.dll"

What you're looking to end up with is these files: amdcalrt64.dll,amdcalcl64.dll,amdcaldd64.dll,aticalrt64.dll,
aticalcl64.dll,aticaldd64.dll

The Catalyst 9.2 and newer drivers use ATI in the name, but CAL is looking for AMD (which they were named prior to 9.2). If the above commands don't work, you can do it by hand in the explorer by finding the three ATICAL files (aticaldd64 aticalrt64 aticalcl64) and copying them (do not rename the originals), then rename the copies to be AMDCAL (amdcaldd64 amdcalrt64 amdcalcl64).

Thanks. I guess I misread the "How to make ATI cards work"instructions on the Collatz message board. I'll let you know how it goes.

EDIT: That did the trick. #ni-1

Congrats, let me know how it goes! As for Collatz, I never found their instructions helpful. Even now when I went to refresh my memory to tell you how to do it I went to MilkyWays site lol.

Edit: Forgot to mention it, but you should also look into the Catalyst Control Center, ATI Overdrive and check your temps and fan settings. Most of them error on the side of quiet, at the expense of excessive heat. Even if you don't want to overclock any you should sanity check what the fan is doing and how high temps are.

My HD4650 for instance was running at 99% load but just 23% fan, ending up maintaining 80-81C temps. That's within specs, but heat is never your friend. I overclocked it to 800MHz core/880MHz memory and bumped the fan up to 40% (locked there), which I still can't even hear, and temps are now at 72-73C which I'm much happier about. Curious to see if clocks on this impact the WU times in Collatz, since the card is showing 99% load. The 4350 at home clocks didn't help much, but the card is only showing a 70% load so I think the bottleneck is elsewhere.

Thanks for the advice on CCC. I'll check it. The noise is no big deal.
