Whatever we decide to do, I want us to remember ARS is GLOATING
over the fact they have the number one Team spot in GeneticLife@home!
Quote: | Team Ars Technica has invested serious time and resources into gaining first place in GenLife. It was a significant contributor towards retaking first place in the DC-Vault Biology/Medicine category after several projects were removed. Now, LAF is pushing GenLife as their “project of the month” through mid-July. Their goal is simple: take first place in the project. They have over 100 people on the project, and are gaining quickly. If we cannot raise an army, Team Ars Technica will lose a hard-won first place in GenLife. |
We GOTTA help out Fang on SOME month! I mean, after all, has
anyone failed to notice what the boy did for all of US these past six
months or so?
Way to go, FangSter! Hope we get to vote on GenLife and further hope
we vote it as PotM!
Keep 'Em Shrubbin', Pal! _________________

Sir fang has told us that last month his project might not be ready with enough work for us. I say as soon as he has enough work and will not threaten to shut down the servers for days at a time I am willing to make it my POTM. In the all new seductive POTM calender.

Aqua
Climate Prediction
Cosmology
Docking
Einstein
Genetic Life
Leiden Classical
Milky Way
NQueens
Prime Grid
Poem
Quantum Monte Carlo
Rectilinear Crossing
Rosetta
SETI

ABC
Climate Prediction
Leiden Classical
Quantum Monte Carlo
Rectilinear Crossing
Spinhenge
I don't know anything about these.......
Aqua... are they still having problems with the GPU client??
Cosmo... It's been a while since I crunched that, I don't know whats going on there anymore....
Einstein... same as above....
Gen Life... Ok, if there is enough work...
Milky...My Nvidia cards are not supported yet
NQueens... Umm, I am still not sure that this is not concerned with cross dressing...
Prime Grid... Why? There is a Challenge often enough...
Poem / Docking... Been There, Done That...
Rosetta, Ok, But I think the credits Suck...
Seti...Why???...Half the team doesn't even know that there are other projects. Exactly what do we hope to accomplish?
Sztaki...We can't really go very far there, We are pretty solidly in 9th now and it is only 7.8 points per position....
WCG... Credit REALLY Sucks......
Someone else can address the other projects that I don't know about, or even state different positions on the ones I have just commented on.... _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

Soon oh Smurfy Dude.
Server Side Upgrade
August 21, 2009
A little more news on the server software upgrade. We're upgrading it to put allow us to correctly recognize NVidia and ATI graphics cards, which means the applications we supply will be able to support those GPUs.
Seriver Side Software Upgrade
August 20, 2009
A planned BOINC server side software upgrade will take place on August 21 at 4:00pm EDT (America/New_York).

It looks like the MW_GPU will not get off the ground (at least for now) It seems that the lack of work we had before wasn't so much because all the ATI'ers were snatching it all up. It was a sever issue which has been corrected for now. They may still split the project in two GPU/CPU later and give the GPU's much larger work units. You'll need to go to the regular MW. Check out the forums there. Crunch3r has also developed a BOINC Client that will recognize ATI as well now. You got a little catching up to do Smurfy!

Do not forget Leiden, I think we could really make some waves there. But Ars gloating over us in our project just grinds my grinders. They used to be powerful, we must show we are now the master.

As far as the POTM goes, if Fang says he's ready for us I think it should be and my vote will be for GenLife.

I'm here, just have lots of sore bits from my latest spank-fest
Am working on a couple of new creature strands and should be ready to go by the end of this month. So, at present, I vote for ME too.
Ni!

Sir Smurph asks "Seti...Why???...Half the team doesn't even know that there are other projects. Exactly what do we hope to accomplish?"
The concept is the ENTIRE KWSN team would be crunching ONE project for one month. Kinda cool. I don't think it would be possible to re-take 4th place in one month, but there is talk of setting up another "gauntlet". Not sure what that means, but I think it involves team competitions, taunting, etc. You know, the sort of thing the loonie magnet attracts.

Sir Smurph asked about Aqua and the GPU client. Not sure how to translate the following thread, but it does look like they're still struggling with it.
