Is it only the Nvidia card that Seti@home can use, or can other GPU chipsets be used as well? Also can you use your video card for computation if you are running Linux? |

I think that Cuda is a Nvidia only thing. I have been trying to set up drivers for Ubuntu all weekend, with no success....
Ati cards can be used on Milkyway only for now. Nvidia is coming later. _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

Actually CUDA can run on ATI cards as well, all the way back to HD 2XXX series, ATI just needs to develop the drivers. In a month or two ATI will have S@H running on their cards too, be it VIA CUDA drivers or SteamProcessing. |

Cool.... Now MilkyWay needs to get off their butts and complete their Cuda apps.... I need more options than just GpuGrid and Seti..... _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

I tried to get my video Nvidia cards to work in SETI with no sucess and went back to folding on them. How do you set up a video card with SETI and what amount of points can you expect?
My Video cards are 2 9800 GTX, 1 9800 GT and 1 8800GTS
Any help and they'll be back in SETI _________________ Check out our website

You need to install the CUDA drivers. Check www.gpugrid.net for a list of CUDA compatible cards and a link to the drivers you need. _________________

Now down to one Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 that's in a tiny case and overheats if I actually try to use all four cores at the same time. On the other hand, it makes for a very nice home theater PC

I'll give it another try.
I have the CUDA drivers loaded and SETI said it recognized the card. The score however wasn't any higher than before using the video drivers. Hopefully, I was just using the wrong drivers.
I'm about two weeks from taking third in folding and then I'll give it a try. Keep checking the stats.
Hmm, I have 4 CUDA cards, Maybe I'll check it out on one workstation this weekend.
Thanks for the help. If you see a jump in my points, you'll know I was successful. _________________ Check out our website

This might be a dumb question, but did you enable the GPU app in your SETI user preferences? _________________

That was gonna be my Question.... Check the box in "Computing Preferences". You may want to uncheck Astropulse while you are there..... _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

This looks right. Did you check to see whether the machine you're using is set as "home". _________________
