You know I am really considering getting that new board with the 7 Pci-e slots. Far more cost effective to buy a new card than build a new computer.

It will need a Real good water cooler though Confused

and likely 3 good Psu's

But, the 4890 is a double width card, so you can only put 4 in there...

See, I'm saving you money already!!!

And for the water cooling, I have a unit that you can have for $10 plus shipping. All it needs is a new pump. It is a Thermaltake Tribe. Amazing how a CPU can quickly get to 120C when the pump quits...and the CPU still rocks!!!

Is this a Double width?... The water block is factory installed and warrantied....

I think I could modify or remove the slot bracket to get it to one slot... Cool

Re the H20 unit,... Your on Very Happy

I was looking at a 120v ac pump @ 600 gph for $158.00

You can save $50 by getting the CPU at microcenter. Every little bit helps

I said I shuffled some cards around Twisted Evil Actually, it's the new server settings as much as anything else. I can actually get steady work now. The update scripts just didn't seem to work that well for me. Probably a Vista issue.

Recently they (milkyway Staff) set the backoff to 1 minute minimum. The old scripts started working in reverse, If your requests were less than 60 seconds you got a backoff message. They also at the same time fixed a problem on the server that issues the work units. In a nutshell, you don't need a script now. Plenty of work is flowing.
Care to share some settings? Twisted Evil

P.S.
Man, you had a great day! Awesome job!

Thanks for the info Randy...and the kudos.#ni-1

I have preferences set for two days and the only Boinc project running on each machine right now is MW. I'm still trying to work out stability issues with a couple of machines to get the right mix of driver and Boinc versions and the mix seems to be different for each box. One is doing fine with Boinc 6.5 and the 8.12 driver. But another one with the same OS (Vista Premium 64) doesn't like that set up and seems to do best with 8.12 and Boinc 6.6.28. I'm still trying to get the last machine figured out. It's crashed several times today. Right now, I'm trying Boinc 6.6.36 and the 9.1 driver. I've also set the display to never shut off. It seems like it crashes shortly after the monitor powers off. That box has Vista Ult 64 on it and has always been a little unstable, especially when it has an ATI card installed. I might wind up sticking an NVIDIA card back in it and putting the 4870 in my i7. The only downside is that it'll cost me big in GPUGrid to do that.

EDIT: Changing the power settings on the i7 to Never on shutting off the video seems to have worked. It's run for several hours now with no troubles.
