Due to the 9 day challenge in Prime Grid coming up in June, my first thought was to place Prime Grid as the only valid choice on the ballot. A bunch of silly nonsense projects would be the other candidates, could be funny. Once folks recognize that for 9 days in June most will be crunching PG anyway, hopefully this would not too annoying... Plus I rather like the idea of having another rigged election. Laughing

Then I read (can't find the link at the moment) where this Prime Grid challenge is especially demanding on computers and has long WU completion times, something like 25 - 50 hours. Very accurate & stable computers are required. If this is accurate, a lot of folks might be left out, both the slow pokes and the over-clocked bleeding edge.

So then I figgered maybe we should have the standard ballot with the understanding PG is the main choice, but we're also voting on a back up project for those who can't support the demands of Prime Grid.

Maybe I'm over-thinking this thing, let me know what you think. If you like the first choice, PM me your suggestions for funny projects...

Oh what the heck, let's vote on how we want to vote... The poll is open for 3 days...

I would like the back-up project

I _WILL_ be running PrimeGrid, as best I can, but we need to aim our sights at SOMETHING until it starts, right?

Sad thing is, I just had two Shrubbers turned off by others, and I can't access them yet

And one of my two is also kapoot (at least for a couple weeks)

Keep 'Em Shrubbin! (if ya can...)

I want to compete in the challenge as well, If I am home.

I also want to consider Genetic life for Fang, But I would like to put in a plug for fellow Credit HO's......

We have been crunching projects with not such great credit lately, How about Aqua Very Happy

Well I think the concept is we'll crunch Prime Grid all month long, switching to the special challenge WU's during those 9 days. The back up project would be for computers that can't handle the demands of the Prime Grid Challenge.

Anyone know how demanding that is? I don't recall any problems with PG, but I think this challenge brings a new level of crunching?

Makes perfect sense to me. Besides, those PSP Seive units were pretty good on my x64 systems.

I would like to see Genetic Life as our POTM soon. Fang let his project go and tortured everyone at work to help with OPS. We really should return the favor in a timely way.

#ni-1 Thanks Fang! #ni-1

I'd go for AQUA as our backup project for June.

Thanks all for suggesting my own project - which will be a year old in mid-june, would be nice to have it as POTM in July or August (if any vote rigging is required just ask, nudge nudge).

I'm sure that once you'll double the points only for KWSN over at Genetic Life for each returning WU, the votes won't even have to be rigged... Razz

I've had a message from one of the guys at SETI.USA - Genetic Life is to be their backup PoTM for June (some spanish project is the main one).

As for vote rigging, that's easy enough to do within the validator, but it's not very British now is it.

I say we have Gen Life for June and give Aqua another month to figure out their long WU issue, then have them as the POTM for July.

What about Prime Grid? we're having a big Prime Grid challenge at June and that's why we thought it would be good to have it as a POTM for june...

I guess we'll have to rig the elections once more... Rolling Eyes

Not surprising with a bunch o' loonies, but this is a little confusing. Although the vote is close, I take the consensus of the vote and the comments in this thread as follows:

Rig the election for Prime Grid and crunch Genetic Life as a back up project for those systems that can't handle PG. Genetic Life would still be eligible for POTM after June.

If you agree, PM me some ideas for goofy projects to put up against Prime Grid on the ballot.... If you don't agree, post a vote or comment here...

Just a quick aside on AQUA.

I've got a standard WU running on a Q6600, should finish tomorrow after ~85 hours crunching for ~2750 points (~32/hour).

I've also got some AQUA CUDA units running (GTS250, 23% @ 18½ hours) so again they look like ~80 hours; if they generate the same sort of credit as GPUGrid they'll be worth something in the region of 30,000 credits each!!!!! Shocked

I'll know in ~3 days.

PG Challenge is NOT PSP Sieve...it is PSP LLR...28 hours on my Q9450@3.2ghz for 800 credits...

I will be there for the Challenge, as long as I don't have the AC running at home. If it is, you all are on your own, as I can't run the farm full bore and the AC...too freaking expensive...

I can't even afford an AC.

Sigh!
