I'm a little skeptical of the back up project concept - I suspect just letting folks crunch whatever they prefer if POTM goes down might be better. Guess we need to decide if we want a back up or not. I was just trying to maximize the votes. Wink

Meanwhile - some POEM news - not quite sure what all this means, but it looks like our timing is excellent:
Quote:
Mar 27 , 2009 - Peptide workunits crunched

The Peptide workunits associated with the Benefiz crunching are now completely processed. Workunit series 383, 384 and 387 corresponded to our stack of 13 and 9 (in two parts) amino acid long peptides. The results look promising up front and will be transfered to another data mining group beginning of April.

As the Peptide simulation protocol worked very well during the Benefiz additional Peptide jobs, which are not associated with the Benefiz will be started. Here various Peptides will be folded and analyzed for their beta-content.

Now down to one Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 that's in a tiny case and overheats if I actually try to use all four cores at the same time. On the other hand, it makes for a very nice home theater PC

I got 6 work units today...
they take about 7 min each, and I do have 27 cores on it Mad

That is the first work in about 2 months #ni-1

Well, I signed up, but I guess I don't have to worry about it bumping my PoTM WU's

Well there might not be any work, but there is that pirate gal that Sir Smurph posted above - that's enough to make me sign up!

Yes, but you need a LOT of hardware to make a significant contribution and get noticed. Unless you're looking at it from the team perspective which would make it a...group effort?

Since there are a few things down, and my machines were starting to starve for work, so I looked at this thread and saw Poems was winning this coming month's voting, so I put a couple machines on it to help the cause. The 1st I may add the other two.
