|
|
The next PrimeGrid Challenge starts on March 15th and lasts only 48 hours. So not as long as the last Challenge. That also means we need to finish higher or else we will not be awarded any Challenge points.
Check out www.primegrid.com for more information.

Where is the team on the list? I just scanned thru it and I didn't see us...
Too many PGGBs?
Update:
Their sort is by RAC - We are just below Team Ishtar - They have TWO teams? and we're not on the list? - Something's wrong here - Our RAC is 3868, right in between 60 and 61... (Both 'Ishtar') _________________

The longest challenge is in June, 10 days. Maybe we should use some strategery and make the case to reserve PrimeGrid as POTM in June?
Scroll down and you'll see we're in 23rd place after the 1st challenge...
http://www.primegrid.com/challenge/challenge.php
We're currently in 38th place overall on the project. |

Thanks. I joined the project this morning on one of my quads and have it running the PPS app only. Tomorrow evening I'll probably switch other machine over to Prime, too. _________________

hmmm..... might dust off the old farm seeing as the spring's coming and the heating bill is going down.....
I neet to organise the farm's room better , but running it just for a day or so, should let me find out any issues, fire risks etc with hardware, as well and still give me time to be up an running for April's POTM.....

For me it does not start for 16 hours. You wanted to get an early start to the process of finding primes.

Just set up for my downloads - Five hrs for me as I write this
I had forgotten to switch to PrimeGrid's Proth Prime Search (LLR), and managed to get myself seven more 321s to crunch - Oh well...
I picked No New Tasks, and just placed all seven on Suspend, and lastly changed my Preferences to be PPS (LLR) ONLY
Now I get back to my SHA-1s for Team KWSN!
(And after the Challenge, I'll PHinish up my 321s!) _________________

OK what does that mean for Prime Grid newbies? I have two types of work units, do I suspend any of them? Or just keep crunching?
PPS LLR 5.10
Twin Prime Search (LLR) 5.09
I have suspended all other projects for now...
And what's the deal with the stress test they refer to here? Should I bother to run it?

The challenge will start in 4 hours...
Quote: | Scores will be kept for individuals and teams. Only work units issued AFTER 15 March 2009 18:00 UTC and received BEFORE 16 March 2009 18:00 UTC will be considered for credit. |
Getting WU for the challenge right now is useless for challenge points.
If you wanna crunch ONLY for the challenge, you should go to your account PrimeGrid prefences and check only to get WU for: Proth Prime Search (LLR) (PPS LLR).
Good luck! _________________ Anyone for Crunch?

Look, I'm a Prime Grid newb and a peasant kanigit with an iron helmet, so very easily confused. It looks like I have Proth Prime Search work units to crunch, isn't that what the PPS LLR 5.10 units are? If I switch my settings I'll get a different type of work unit? And yet you say it's useless to get WU's for the challenge now? So shouldn't I just stop completely if I want to crunch only for the challenge?
On Edit:
OK I think I see now, the work units don't start for a few more hours so suspend all Prime Grid work units and don't update 'til then? I did set preferences as you stated... |
