Yes,... But,... I would think that even in South Dakota "Walking down the street with a Sniper Rifle" would be frowned upon _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

That is not a sniper rifle. There is a definate issue with depth perception in the picture, but it looks like a regular rifle to me. It's definately not concealed... _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

Doesn't matter what kind of rifle it is. Walking down the street with any kind of weapon, concealed or not, should be frowned upon everywhere. Unfortunately it isn't in a lot of places.
Personally I would feel extremely threatened if I walked past people carrying guns in the street. _________________ My brain hurts.

You haven't walked in the right places yet. That guy is probably already thinking of how he is going to cook the venison. _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

You won't feel comfortable walking in the big cities of Israel so, many soldiers go around with rifles... but somehow I believe they're a bit more trained and responsible than this guy... _________________ Anyone for Crunch?

Believe it or not you are safer there then in most big cities. Bad guys there have to worry about people shooting back. Not so in the big cities. _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

Unfortunately, there are too many liberals here that feel sorry for the bad guys. They let them off with little to no punishment at all.
If I had my way, Prison would be unpleasent, make them abosolutely NOT want to go. Better encouragement of being good . _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

I think they enjoy going to prison for a holiday.
Speaking of dudes with guns, there's really only a small number of dudes who look good with a weapon in their hands...and they're all fictional characters.
(Technically, not a weapon but he would look just as good if it was.)

Ok, so let's discuss the difference between a "Sniper Rifle" and a "Hunting Rifle"....

Those aren't sniper rifles,
This is a sniper rifle. The 50 cal M82 Barrett Sniper Rifle:
This is a hunting rifle. A Winchester Model 70.
The longer barrel is for more accurate aim. It stabilizes the bullet better for it's flight. _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

Quote: | The United States Marine Corps used the pre-1964 Winchester Model 70 bolt-action rifles as their standard-issue sniper rifle from the 1950s, until they were replaced by the Remington Model 700 series bolt-action rifles in the mid-1960s and the Remington Model 700 became the basis for the M40 series sniper rifle that is in current U.S. Marine Corps service today. |

That happened because up to that time most military sniper rifles were just modified versions of a basic infantry rifle. You can find sniper variants of just about all the standard issue infantry rifles from WWII, for example. In Viet Nam, they learned quickly that hunting rifles were better than modified infantry rifles for use by their snipers, so they used hunting rifles instead.
Now, they use the Barrett John showed earlier. _________________
