I didn't know whether to go to the help forum, or this one, but as the problem is with BOINC I'm putting it here.

I'm going to start crunching again, what little my piddly little computer can do, so I'm running my BOINC which is ancient. Version 5.something.something.

I downloaded the new version, but everytime I try to run the installer it's looking for the wrong drive. It's looking for a Drive J, when it should look to my Drive C or E, so I figure there's an old installer file somewhere that's pointing it to the wrong place, or, that I have to delete my old BOINC to put my new BOINC in. But I don't want to lose my data that's in my old BOINC...

so how shall I proceed, gentlemen and ladies? All suggestions will be considered and tried, I promise.

As I recall if you go to Control Panel and uninstall BOINC, it deletes the software but leaves your project info intact. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can confirm...

After you accept the license you have a screen showing BOINC configuration.

Program Directory and Data Directory

Click on advanced

Change your program directory to 'C:\Program Files\BOINC' or wherever you wanted to store it.

The data directory should point to a folder under documents and settings, but you can change this also to a custom directory if you so choose.

Continue install as normal. Enjoy spam!
