PostPosted: Sat Jan 31, 2009 7:59 pm    Post subject: Vote: Project Of The Month - February Reply with quote

The concept behind Project Of The Month is all Boincers on KWSN must either crunch SOME work units on the project during the month or switch over to crunch ALL work units for the project during the month. There has been some discussion here:

http://www.kwsnforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=12817

Possible criteria for selection as POTM:
- Move team position up in the rankings
- Value of the project to the glory of mankind
- Silliness of the project for stupidity Ni!
- Add credit to neglected projects
- Coordinate POTM with taunting activities
- Support team members who code for a project
- Overtake another team

Let's give it a shot, vote quickly 'cause February is upon us! And feel free to pimp your favorite project in this thread. Check KWSN stats in my sig... Sorry if your favorite project didn't make it into the poll, the system limits the number of choices...

The vote closes in 3 days...

OK just to get things started, I went ahead and voted for:

Genetic Life

Grawlfang is a member of KWSN and is the programmer behind Genetic Life. KWSN is currently in 8th place and falling... Let's help a brother kanigit out!

I would remove 3x+1 project since that one is basically over.

And I have climate prediction WUs from early december that I don't expect to finish until March, so if we do this and choose that, I'm covered.....

I have been considering SHA-1 Collision Search... My vote, FWIW...

If it's good enuff for Herr Doktor, I should look into it. I may catch him! Laughing
Besides, I see a LOT of you 'Regulars' at the Fortress are in already. Want me to join?

(I already do Milky, and that would be my second choice.
Looks lika a lot of team credit for PC 'Putin'-Power expended!)

The problem is how to get the other BOINC'ers to go along with this and get full firepower.

I really don't know what project to vote for, they're all good, as POTM I would like to crunch for something that will really help the team advance instead of crunching for something I like...

POTM should be in favor of the team! so I'll go with what ever you guys choose #ni-1

I'm very interested... I think the ppl are waiting for the poll to be finished and the project of the month to be determined... next time, we should put the poll for 5-7 days before the month will finish... #ni-1

Given that the current leader is SHA and herr doctor is pounding at SHA, I think it works for this month. We should all devote at least some part of our boincing ability to SHA. I have it set for 91% on my boinc machines.

Well , some observations :

Seti , Bugger all points for KWSN for a BIG effort . Covered anyway

Einstein - Ditto (Who gonna take on MigCoCos ?)

Climate prediction - Whewww - long crunching times .

Rosseta , Small points but very worthy .

Cosmology - good points here .

Milky Vay , good points here also .

WCG - too many particpants - bad scoreing .

ABC Very good points here .

Spinhenge - GOOD project - bad points .

QMC - Will take longer than projected "Push" to score anything .

3X+1 very newish . Not in DC Vault .

Simap . VERY good project , but almost out of steam .

Poem . Terific project , needs a "Pump"

Aqua -- Errm don't know enough

RTCN -- Ditto .

SHA Good points !! BUT the Good Dr V is STORMING the charts here , can we make an impression ?

Docking - Yep a good 'un .

Leiden - trubs at mill there .

NQueens good project to gain KWSN some serious points .

Genetic Life , damm good project , but umm ---- Not a DC Vault project , so no points gained .

Sorry Sir Knights for these observations , so I will be voting for Docking

I'm fine with SHA-1, but Aqua or Milkyway would be good, too.

I'll second that. Please put POEM in the poll for next month. #ni-1
