  Well Done, That Man.
Don't forget that I'm on your tail, about 6 weeks back, so you'll just have to Keep On Shrubbin'

I changed back to Einstein just so you could stay close (although you do have more computing power than I do).

Wow! You are really doing a lot to support the team - a rising tide raises all ships and all.
And I clicked on that link in your signature. Yes, you do have some rather serious hardware, and lots of it. That is very, very cool.
So, much deserved congratulations! _________________

Somebody we all know and appreciate is about to pass 2 Million in MilkyWay...
Somebody that's quite adept at getting our Stats updated daily, etc, etc...
Anybody wanna venture a guess who that might be?

You say like getting to a million almost every week is an easy thing. Though as a team we scored over one million points just yesterday.

Only during the Winter, I can't afford to air condition my office (enough to cool down 12 computers). That is a slight exaggeration- it takes me about 33 days to collect a million. _________________

That is too funny. Even with my "upgraded" farm (so far), I could potentially eke out a grand total of about 130,000 to 150,000 or so in that period of time.
I need to move the three file servers into the basement, along with the two more boxes I have waiting to put online (one of which is yet another file server). Well, strictly speaking, the other one is in parts, but I have all of them. And yet another one (Sempron) is pretty close, too, though I don't know if I have RAM for that one.
Anyway, right now, everything is lashed together in my office, and, let me tell you, I can close the central heat register in that room. My wife left the door closed all day the other day (in an effort to muffle the din of the screaming file servers), and my Opty box very nearly got hot enough to go into shutdown due to high CPU temperature. Ambient had to be something like 90F
Once they're in the basement, I have been thinking about venting the servers to the outside via a dryer vent. Maybe with one or more of these bad boys helping things along, though convection might be enough, as hot as that air is
When I was researching liquid cooling, I saw where people had made one big cooling system and hooked it to multiple computers. I considered that, then decided on going with building something like the CoolIT instead. I have already scored the TECs and the heat sink to build something big enough for one CPU and graphic card. Seems to me this could be scaled up for more than one CPU, and it should be more efficient than cooling the whole room. My gut feel is that keeping the cooling water at about 20C would be good enough, but shouldn't cause condensation problems (at least in my climate). _________________
