I gave up as well today. Wu's were taking 20+ hours when they ran at all, and usually they errored out.
so I have reset the project and set it to no new work.
I may revisit GPUdom when they work out the bugs _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

I had the same luck. Even with the latest app (today's), my test machine with a pair of 8800 GTS GPUs acted funny (mixed up what GPU SETI wanted to use) and returned bad results. My machine with a 8500 GT returned 3 bad results out of 3. I switched over to Folding@Home and have been pretty happy with the results the GPUs get there (although it is a pain to setup for multiple GPUs). I'm waiting for Einstein's entry into the GPU field, that should be more stable than SETI's (plus it is Linux, not Windoze). _________________

Bit the bullet and downloaded the latest boinc to get CUDA working.
They claim up to 10x faster on the SETI site and I've only managed about the same time which was rather disappointing using a factory OC'd 8800GT
If you go to the Resource Share & Graphics section of the SETI@Home website you can turn CUDA off. It's turned on by default but they might change it to default as No.
I've done this as there seems to be no performance advantage and I'd rather have 2 cores doing meaningful work rather than one. _________________

Any luck for anyone getting CUDA S@H work? I'm still getting normal work units for S@H, no cuda work... did they suspend the project or something? _________________ Anyone for Crunch?

Looks like Cuda is Back. I have it running on one box now.

New GPU applications
January 30, 2009
New applications for Windows and Linux released. CPU usage is now close to zero, so that you can keep crunching other CPU projects as before while also using the GPUs in your machine.

Ok, been a week now....
Still sucks. Yes it only uses 1-3% of a core but that core will not run anything else. and it causes my machine to lag horribly. I will finish the Wu's I have and wait until they fix it right.
On the bright side it does average about 2k points a day on an 8800 GT _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

I'm running it on a WinXP Pentium D machine and it lags a bit yes, but it doesn't catch an extra CPU (Crunching 3 projects at a time), I'm quite happy with it _________________ Anyone for Crunch?

Why don't you guys join GPUGRID? I got 4 BOINC tasks and 1 CUDA task running at the same time on my QUAD. It uses very little of 1 core.
<EDIT>
You'll need to run BOINC 6.5.0 and the 181.22 drivers for the cuda. _________________

I've tried GPUGrid but their application took about 50% of one cpu load and dedicated it to explorer.exe
I might give it another chance, as I rather donate the GPU for folding rather than SETI, but if it will still be problematic, I'd have no choice but to come back to SETI... _________________ Anyone for Crunch?

The're running a new app now that uses very little CPU.
GPUGRID does medical research. Just on a little more intense scale.
If you run into issues there just ask. They were very helpful to me in getting started. _________________

I have looked and I can't seem to figure out what their projects are...
I think that my problem is with Seti not Gpu grid but WTF...
Is it like Boinc or is it like Non Boinc?
I guess I am just not very bright........... _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

It's BOINC, one of the BOINC projects is GPUGrid... _________________ Anyone for Crunch?

Tried running GPUGrid again with the latest nvidia drivers 181.22 as you said, and still I see the same problem, explorer.exe takes 25% to 40% of 1 cpu which makes the computer extremely laggy...
I'll try looking for solutions over in the message board... _________________ Anyone for Crunch?

Ask someone on the board there about the explorer. exe.
I don't have that problem on mine and no slugishness.
Task manager on mine shows explorer. exe at 01-02 CPU and 33,456 Mem. _________________

I have to suspend Seti in order to use my computer at all.
And those Damn Astropulse units come in benchmarked at 500+ hours. They better be worth some serious Shrubbage,
I have 3 in progress and they have been running for a combined 5.76 Days.
And they are only 1/2 done _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......
