I couldn't afford the AMD cards I wanted so Santa (me) got a pair of these instead:
We will try out a little bit of this Cuda action that is starting to show up. SETI WUs fetching 60 credits took 884 seconds (I had 2 copies of Einstein and 2 copies of SETI running at the same time on a P4 D820).
So far all we have done is cook some ram (my Abit motherboard has the ram right above PCI-X16 #1). With the 8800 GTS running at 74 drg C, the ram got hot fast... Hum, next plan is... _________________

Download nTune from nVidia <<link>>. Once installed, open and on the left hand menu navigate to Performance -> Adjust GPU Settings. On that page change the GPU fan setting from Automatic to Direct fan control. Then change the % from 39 to 60.
If I do not do that then mine will run at a 74 degrees. When I change it to 60% it will drop all the way down to the high 40s. When you turn it up to 60% you can hear the fan but it is not bad at all. I have my machine sitting right beside me and the fan noise does not bother me. With more % you can lower the temp further, but I found 60% to be the sweet spot for noise v/s temp.
This seems to be a Windows app only so if you are not running windows then you will need to perform this same setting manually. How to do that on Linux I am not sure. _________________

How would you hook that up to the RAM? _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

OK- With 3 fans and the case laying on it's side (open) it runs. SETI's cuda app is DOA, so I'm running some Folding WUs.
Note: This is a winter only machine! The GPUs are running hot! The lower one (fan is open to the air) is running @ 81C, the top one (fan is blocked by GPU #2) is @ 89C. That is with both GPUs under-clocked (500 MHz instead of 575).
Makes for a very nice space heater. (I gave away my P4 space heaters, so I needed a new one).
They have a one year warranty- anyone want to start a pool on how long they last? PS- They start thermal throttling @ 120C.

Can the pretty cover over the top card be removed and a fan installed in the ventilated grill area at the lower front of the case blowing back across the cards? _________________

I use over my ram. It came with the modules but it can be purchased seperately. It comes with 2 clips that just latch onto the lockdown tabs for the dimms to hold it in place. I don't see why it wouldn't work for other brands of ram. It looks good in there too. _________________
