Can't a Knight be a man as well?

Congrats on that achievement, you are getting us closer to finding the Holy Shrubbery.

What in the WORLD is that monster? Is it "off the rack", or did you assemble it? What kind of processor does it run, and if you assembled it, which mobo does it run?

I know what you mean. I've been an AMD man since the K100. My next build is going to be something like a Q6600 or Q6700, or even an i7 if the chips (and especially) the mobos come down enough by then.

I've had good luck with old dual P4 Xeon servers lately. I didn't win the other $75 HP/Compaq box that I was hoping to, but I snagged a similarly equpped Dell 2650 for $100. They can be had for less than that, with RAM included, even including shipping, but I was in a hurry (see below).

It doesn't hurt that it shrubs Milkyway quite handily, too.

Anyway, it has a single 73mb drive, and didn't have any RAM, but I topped out the RAM slots in the other server with the RAM I bought, and that meant I had 512MB left over, which works just fine in the Dell box.

I'm madly trying to get up to speed on Oracle, as I'm a MS SQL guy by training and experience, and there's a possible job for me if I can convince them I can be an Oracle DBA (among other things).

I've got two Q6700 machines and I've been impressed with their performance. The most recent build is a home theater PC that I bought as a barebones bundle and added 4GB ram, hard drive and TV card. This thing crunches 24/7 and I can still use it to watch and record TV and movies. It was a little pricey because of the media center options, but I think if you wanted to build something stripped down for shrubbing you could do it much cheaper. This will probably be my last one for awhile. It's getting harder to convince my wife that I need another computer.

Yeah, no doubt. I can claim legitimate uses for the first two P4 Xeon boxes (MS SharePoint and Oracle). The third one I just picked up might take some more 'splainin', though. At least they were cheap. Power hogs, yes, but cheap.
