There's a few of them.
Sorry for the delay. We've been caught up with all the new house stuff and have been sorting and doing some packing etc. The new house is only a couple of streets away, so it isn't huge like the last move and I shouldn't be offline for more than a day or so hopefully, and it will be great having our own house again instead of renting.
I'll be back a bit later with the belated birthdays. _________________ My brain hurts.

When I was a kid, yes, had no choice in that. Owned the 'marital' home in Ipswich for twelve years, then the house in Brisbane for ten years so it's really only the last three and a half years that have been topsy turvy for various reasons. I think we'll be staying here for quite a while, and I'm glad we managed to get the finance to buy at Point Vernon. Better than paying off someone else's house for them.

Nah. Not when it's a brand spanking new house that nobody else has lived in...built on the land that I bought outright months ago that's only a five minute walk to lovely sea and island views. I'll have to take a pic of the view from the end of the street. And the loan repayments are about $300 less a month than what we were paying for rent. If you've got the opportunity to do that in an area that has really gone ahead incredibly over the last few years, you don't knock it back. At the moment we get direct flights from Sydney and Brisbane, but the carpet cleaning guy was saying that the airport looks like it's going to be extended so that there can be direct flights from New Zealand too. And they're trying to get flights from Townsville too, so that the Japanese tourists can do their North Queensland tour, then come here for their whale-watching and Fraser Island tour on their way through to Sydney.
Apparently the place has gone from a few sleepy little adjacent fishing hamlets to a thriving bustling city in less then ten years. We've seen so many new houses go up in the last year it's incredible. Plus all the shopping centres have been/are being built or extended and most of this has only happened in the last five years or so. I've never seen a place go ahead so quickly. I reckon you really can't go wrong buying a house here because it's only going to go up in value over the next few years.
Getting back to the birthday people...I haven't forgotten, just haven't had time to search for the list. Will do ASAP.
Oh, and speaking of looneys, I had a dream last night that a whole bunch of looneys came for a visit and I had to guess who was who. There was about twenty - thirty men and women. Shows that my subconscious is a bit scrambled at the moment because there's no way that many looneys could fit into the house! Most of them didn't look like anyone that I know from here, and I remember a couple who said their names. I'd never heard of them so I said they were naughty because they never posted on the forum!! hahahaha There was one that looked like Sir CC but I never got the chance to ask if that was correct. And I remember that while I was talking to one looney, I stepped back and bumped right into....SHoE!!! Then I managed to pick out Lady DC, and that was about it. Oh, there is one more.
Lizard was there too. I'm sorry, Lizard, but I had no control over my subconscious ramblings at that time. You were the really tall, really good-looking muscular football-player type standing in the corner. The silly part is that you sort-of had robotic bits here and there, as in arms and legs and I don't know what else. Sort of half man - half robot like in a sci-fi movie. No disrespect intended - you were absolutely gorgeous despite the metal bits.
I only posted that bit because he's not really likely to read it, I hope.
I've been having some really weird dreams since we moved in here. _________________ My brain hurts.

And... I'm a Dr. Demento PHan too!!
Barry Hansen aka Dr Demento made a far bigger impact on my young brain than any other radio guy. I'm sure I'm not alone in this. His comedy and novelty show turned me on to, among other things, Frank Zappa, Shel Silverstein, Tom Lehrer, and of course Spike Jones- plus a whole host of other liberating, mind expanding grooviness. Where else would I have ever heard stuff like this in rural southern Indiana in the 1970s?
He's been turning people's heads inside out for over 30 years, expanding consciousness across the nation. Thanks, Doc.
(And please, Miss 'Chelle, I'll take a 'pass' on the Birthdays. I've been eighteen for over thirty-five years now and I don't want to break my record!! ) _________________

I have listened to the Dr. since the '70s. I am proud that I finally got all the old LPs put in digital format.

I am attenting Con on the Cob www.cononthecob.com this coming weekend in OH and meeting up with many of my Demented friends! I am good friend with many of the artists on The FuMP.
I also try to attend MarsCon www.marscon.org in Minneapolis every year for the Demented Music, also. |
