More correct so, the Allies won the war together. It's not fair to point out a single country.
Should we do it anyway, I'd rather say Russia. The vast majority of the German forces were located in the east defending against the Russian invasion, and the Germans were much more afraid of them (for good reasons). Still, the Russians pulverized the German army and reached Berlin first. This is a very overlooked fact, maybe due to several years of propaganda during the cold war.

Now lets not do there dirty work for them , I would have expected some unity. 
now back on track , there is no way you(imposter's) can be as loonie as we are.
Your efforts in this endeavor are sad and longing for for sustenance.
Please feel free to go back to the school yards as I can see no madness in your method.
If you intend to take our crown you will need pull the Wrabbit out of our hat( not going to happen as he is injured and on the side lines) Please feel free to come back after you have seen the light of our loonieness. Now I must return to the woods where the wolves require teeth cleaning , and the bears need grooming.

I have always felt that the Penguin Atlas of Modern History got the result nearest to right:
"The Russians won. The Germans lost."
They could well be winning the peace at last as well - and I say that from the standpoint of a gas user!

Yes, the Allies won the war, silly type. Of course, the Germans were winning until certain countries on the WESTERN side of the Atlantic Ocean got involved.....
I wouldn't say the Russians won the war. They were only fighting the Germans. No one else. Plus it is a much shorter trip from Minks or Moscow to Berlin, then from let's say Normandy to Berlin.
Let us not forget that there was another war going on at the time too. Does anyone recall Japan? Bit of a fight there too.
