As you may - or may not know -
3Dnow and ESL are in a harried battle in SPIN -
There is some history here and would rather not get into it at the moment.
But just lets say that in my opinion, ESL did not play fairly.
Many members of SETI.USA including MAC, and JV, myself and others have joined 3Dnow's team in an effort to help 3Dnow.
Seti.USA and 3Dnow have had their battles, over the past year some good with bad words but in the end, we have learned to respect each other.
It is my wish that others join in the battle to help 3Dnow -
The race is first to 15 million
Race stats page
http://spin.fh-bielefeld.de/spin_team_race.php
If you choose to help - please join 3Dnow's team and crunch like made.
ESL just had a new cruncher appear today - 70+ Quad core machines - not sure where this guy came from, but he is a serious threat and 3Dnow could use every CPU cycle they can get to battle.
Appreciated.

What exactly is this project SPIN? Does it run on BOINC? if not does if affect BOINC a lot if you run them at the same time?

I'm in.
Sorry, kNi!ghts, but I've moved my 400k over to 3DNow and set everything shrubbing Spinhenge (that means KWSN drop a couple of places).
BUT. I'll bring it all back home in a few days, hopefully considerably enhanced.
And 3DNow will owe us a favour, which might come in very handy someday.

I don't know how much it will help as it seems the ESL (English as a Second Language speakers) are neraly to the goal. Can the race be extanded or start over again?

It's getting funnier and funnier. Why should we (ESL) start over a race because you, who has never talked to anyone of us and have just heard a story about "the bad guys ESL" from a guy who has never talked to us as well thinks we should?
There has not been unfair play at all. I won't try to explain because you don't seem to be interested at all, seeing the fact that you just joined without trying to hear our story.
Just one thing to show it's not only our view: We've asked SETI Germany members, who were watching the race, and they are agreeing that the race is going well and fair.
Anyway, do as you please. |

Thanks for your answer Bullocks2.
I was referring to...
KevinT wrote: | But just lets say that in my opinion, ESL did not play fairly. |
...when talking about "bad guys". It's just not true that we aren't playing fair - and obviously KevinT knows that, seeing that he doesn't even try to explain what's been so unfair. |

I'm not really interested in who's "Good Guys" and "Bad Guys".
All I know is that there's a battle raging, and I've plumped for the underdogs. May the best team win, with no recriminations.
KWSN is about enjoying crunching, and we're not particularly interested in back-biting and politics, just in friendly rivalry.

That's OK with me. Just wanted to correct the image KevinT is spreading about ESL. Didn't want to start a fight here, mohrorless
Just one question: Who do you think are the underdogs? Planet 3D Now! is an established team in the distributed computing scene, ESL ist just there for under a year now
Happy crunching! |

The team that was behind.
Haven't you realised that KWSN are the team renowned throughout the world for taunting teams that are ahead of them and crunching faster? We hold daily practice sessions for our "knees-bent, running-backwards" posture, and we're always ready to argue that position 2 is better than position 1 because it's a bigger number.
And if you can make sense of that you're obviously a raving loonie, so you might as well join the kNi!ghts in their quest for the Holy Grail, and enjoy life.

You wanted to say: "The team that is and will be behind."

Hehe. I know your team for quite some time, always liked the name and think you are adding great value to the DC scene (e.g. the optimized SETI@home clients). But I didn't know that.
Anyway, you guys are OK, I just hope you understand that I couldn't leave Kevint's statements unanswered. But I'm sure you're smart enough to judge for yourself. |

Wait I joined because of politics? Oh dear, I always knew position 5 is better than poisition 1 you want to know why? Because 1 is the loneliest number, I heard it in a song so it must be true.
