Don't worry the conversion is almost complete, soon he/she/it will turn his/hers/its BOINC accounts all over to KWSN.

I have downloaded Muon Cockpit -(not Muon Cockfight)

And it reports I have completed 25 WU's in the current results.txt section.

I think there's an option to do a manual send somewhere!

You've appeared on the Free-DC stats. And quite a healthy contribution.

That is 1 machine part time crunching, and using 1 core - or 25% of the processing ability.

I have messed around with the threads in MOUN, but can not seem to get more than 1 instance running - any hints ?

I have plans on getting a few more going sometime in the future. Or at least keep the 1 going 24/7

It appears to only affect BOINC by about 25% so I have 75% of resources available for BOINC and 25% for MUON

Very Happy Very Happy #Rofl #Rofl #Rofl #Rofl

Kev(T) - I did not mean in my original challenge for you to Shrub for KWSN , indeed I intended it as a jaunt/challenge/taunt/fun for Seti USA VS KWSN in Muon !!
But well responded Sir - shows style Very Happy Very Happy

Now as to setting up Muon ona multi core box , just create a seperate directory for each core (ie Muon1 , Muon2 etc ) and run each one from there . Note however , Muon will use ~90% of ALL cores on only one iteration anyway , so no real need to do this - unless you want to SQUEESE every erg outa the box , KWSN stratedgy is to run a Boinc project along side to suck up spare cycles that Muon does not use . This is under Windows XP Pro OS .
Project sends work once ~100,000 points have been reached (approx 30 hres on a fast machine , no matter how many cores - see above ) , or do a manual send whenever you want - OR if you want to be sneaky (or do not have a 24 hr connection , cache them and sent loads at once Twisted Evil )

Muon re-seeds itself , so does not have to phone home for more work , it will keep crunching for weeks on an original seed untill you upload - but best to get new ones if you can with automatic upload .

My aged boxes can reach ~ 200,000 a day on the ones I submitted to Muon (approx 12 cores) .
Shall switch them back to Muon today and RACE YA !! Very Happy Very Happy

You will notice that SETI.USA is almost an exclusive BOINC team. Why? I dunno - maybe because we are too lazy to look for other projects that are not BOINC, or too lazy/retarded to learn how to set up the other projects.
So, we don't have a team in MUON - so I decided, why not just join the loonies for a time and see how MUON works. In the future, I may get a SETI.USA team set up - who knows.

For your race/challenge - I only have Muon on a single machine, I have not had the time to install it on any others. But if you really do want to race, I love a good race. You had better be prepared... Smile
I currently have 9 qx6700 quads that are not even running right now, - they are all in some sort of brokenness (is that a word?) but plans on getting them fixed all up in the near future - next 30 days.
It would be a good race, for me #ni-2
So if you are serious, you must give me time to at least install MUON on a couple more boxes.

http://stats.free-dc.org/new/teamstats.php?proj=dpad&team=The+Knights+Who+Say+Ni%21

You should start a new thread for the race if serious, and let others join. I might even be able to recruit (no promises) other teammates from SETI.USA to join in - they LOVE races....

Well said Sir Kev . Let me know when to start the race , we should then bookmark present credit on our accounts - and REV RITE UP !! Very Happy Very Happy

No caching mind Very Happy , and remember it is fairly easy to cheat by getting friends and relations to change their user.txt file to your or my account Rolling Eyes
I promise not to do this , and only use my own boxes - this would give a good idea of our powers Very Happy What do you think , probl'y better if you set up a Seti USA Team and let KWSN and Seti do battle !! (This would also puch quite some points in DC Vault for Seti USA with a new project that they don't have at the moment )

Give me your thoughts , and I shall set up a forea area for a RACE !!

Well since I have no friends or relatives, it would be difficult for me to get them to run under my account.

As for caching up - it would be farily easy to tell, someone would have a huge startup and then a falling off. And I agree, only the use of our own boxes should be allowed.
To avoid this, I suggest a race for at least a million points or 45 days - I dunno, I don't know how the credit system works with this project so maybe a end date would be more appropriate instead of number of credits/points.

I would like to get a cool mil in COSMO before I start up the race. And I will see what I can do to get some other teammates from SETI.USA to join in. At least then it would be between 2 teams rather than me against the knights Smile

Give me 2 weeks - say starting Saturday 21 of January ? I have to get time to get my crunchers oiled up and the squirrels trained and fed.

Sorry to be late reply'in Sir Kev .

Yes , a race between 2 teams would be great ! With the added advantage of watching our own scores within the teams Very Happy

So Sat 21th of Jan at 00:00 hrs start ?
And the end date (1 million would be over too quickly ) , say 29th Feb Very Happy Very Happy , no really end date 31th Jan @ 00:00 hrs ? (45 days for the Knights would severly tax their attention span Rolling Eyes )

I know (by looking at the Boinc Stats) that you have more boxes than myself , but I'm up for it Rolling Eyes .
Have stopped my one box on Muon untill the contest starts #ni-1

Regds Da-Grizz (KWSN Moron in waiting)

PS Good luck in Cosmo

A Moron race in MURON - starting Jan 21 2008 Sat 00:00:00 and ending Jan 31 2008 at 00:00:00

Sounds like a great race to be -

I will spend some time this next weekend installing Muron -

And BTW -

How does one set up a team in Muron since it appears that SUSA does not have one...

Mr Grizz

I have almost got my million in Cosmo - or close enough - will have it in 2 days or less.

Therefore starting this week I will be installing Muon and getting ready for our little race.

I have achieved teamage SETI.USA - even if I am a single member for the team. And we are sitting in spot 43. No idea if top a top 10 spot is something that can be reached during the race. But I am hoping that we can at least make a decent showing.

One thing I have not understood, is this joust between our teams our just between you and me...

http://www.stephenbrooks.org/muon1/?team=[SETI.USA]&sortby=Mpts&oldness=730

So I will be ready for the running of the crunchers by next weekend as promised. Jan 21st.

Just before the starting bell on Jan 20 I will do a manual send to clear the cache's on any computer that is crunching so to start with as a clear a possible cache. Should not be difficult since I only have 1 active machine right now.
