Has anyone yet finished one of those new 40+ hour WU's. Every one on all my machines has errored out. I have stopped work on TSP as all I get is those units and it has wasted a couple days of time on all my machines. _________________ a.k.a. I had the only one (here at home) error out in the last day or 2 I have another running now (projected time to finish 73+ hours! YIKES!!! ).
We'll see what happens. _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

I have looked on the results page and I don't see anyone has finished any of them. They seem to be totally FUBAR. I have wasted over 50 hours on them. That would be about 800 credits in Cosmo. _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

Papa does cosmo have similar issues?
Had one wu stuck on 10.5% and had been there for over 6 hours? Aborted the unit but I am worried as another may be doing the same.
Give it till the end of the day then concertrate on Milkyway where we're in danger of slipping even futher _________________ Crabbypatty

I have had a couple issues with Cosmo. Sometimes it will run like 7% and then start another unit. Yesterday I had one box with 3 units like this, but they all finished. on occasion I have also had a unit stick and all power goes to System Idle Process. I just restart the machine and it resumes.
Also I had a problem with one of my boxes where it would stop and not resume for days even after a restart. I never figured that one out but luckily it stopped doing it
I have turned off TSP and I am 90% Cosmo and 10% Milkyway right now. That Seti USA challenge kicked my but on RAC. I was pushing 2K per day and now I am under 1500 _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

As soon as it would take a long time and with me leaving town I decided to detach so to avoid the chance for errors while I am away.

I was also getting the errors on the 40 hour WUs. I was about to detach from the project but I got to thinking that maybe there is a way to tell it to not give me the 40 hour WUs. Turns out there is:
1) Go to <<LINK>>
2) Sign in with your account
3) Edit the preferences and at the bottom there are two options, one says something like Brute Force (yes/no) and the other is something like Standard Algorithm (yes/no). Set the Standard Algorithm to NO and leave Brute Force = YES.
That will only give you the 50 minute WUs and I have yet to have any of them error out on me.
( i would provide better details about how to do this but their website is down at the moment ) _________________

I just had another of them bomb. It was running fine last night when I powered everything down. My guess it has something to do with that. _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

I don't think so Sir Mohr, I never power down my boxes and all of them have errored.
Not your fault, It is theirs.
Could be like Einstein, and only run correctly on Intel/Linux. _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

Could be. I wasn't looking to take the blame....too many people complaing about it for me to have been the problem (for once ).
Oh, well. I'm sure one of the lost salesmen will call in and complain, or they will notice the # of errored WUs and look into it. _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

The website is back up and I can now correctly list how to stop the large, error prone, WUs.
1) Go to <<LINK>>
2) Sign in with your account
3) Under Preferences, select TSP Preferences
4) Choose the link at the bottom: Edit TSP Preferences
5) Uncheck the "Accpet Genetic Algorithm Tasks" box and leave the "Accpet Brute Force Tasks" box checked.
Also a note from their site:
2007-12-27
I'm sorry to say I have been out of commission for a few days. I got the flu. I'm still under the weather but doing better. I have been getting lots of reports on the ga windows app failing. I have deprecated the windows apps for now, and will release new apps within a week or so. Also several people have asked for the raw data. I'll provide that via the website, or in subversion once I'm feeling better.
So it appears that this is a known issue. However doing the steps I mentioned above will prevent it, as long as they have enough of the small WUs that is. _________________

Don't worry about it , just some laggard teams playing catch-up .
Take advantage of their present production and KWSN is pumping where they are not because of TSP .

We are about to loose 2nd place to "L'Alliance Francophone".
They are out-producing us by more than 25,000 WUs per day and are less than 100,000 WUs behind !!

Umm...
looks like the 5 teams behind us are all going to eat our lunch. All of them are at least 2 times our production for the last 28 days. _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

So what are the priorities?
The Cosmo/Synergy/S.USA taunt?
Try to keep 2nd in TSP?
Stay in the top 10 in Poem?
Take 5th in Riesel LLR?
The sGooBee SoB challenge?
Any others?
I don't think we can do them all at once, my efforts are in Cosmo, Poem, Sztaki & CPDNbeta with a bit of LLR & SoB at the moment, but I'm prepared to be persuaded otherwise.

I like "The Cosmo/Synergy/S.USA taunt?", it's active on the other teams forums and could be quite a laugh Seti.USA seem to getting ready to ramp up as well
Also we could try reverse taunting boinc@australia as they are steamrollering everybody... and as they don't like taunuing on their site/forum we could all join them will names like "KWSN Sir Brian taunts the Boring Boincing Aussies" for a few days... they'll get the message! _________________ Oh, it's blessed are the meek!, Well I'm glad they'll get something as they have a hell of a time!
