I made my first batch of mince pies today, only two dozen but it's a start.
They came out of the oven just now and they smell wonderful.
For me Christmas has now started. |

That is the one aspect of Christmas I used to dread. Both grandmothers and my great aunt used to start badgering my family in early October on how many mince pies we wanted. Less than 3 dozen was an insult, so Christmas was a marathon that involved eating through over 100 mince pies And the same with sausage rolls (franks in blanks for the US reader) and normally 3 Christmas cakes. Sounds ungratefull... I realised at young age, it was a competition to see who was favoured more
Will be enjoying a mince pie-lite Chistmas _________________

After all of that, you must not have had room for a mint.... _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

Maitre D: And finally, monsieur, a wafer-thin mint.
Mr Creosote: No.
Maitre D: Oh sir! It's only a tiny little thin one.
Mr Creosote: No. Fuck off - I'm full... [Belches]
Maitre D: Oh sir... it's only wafer thin.
Mr Creosote: Look - I couldn't eat another thing. I'm absolutely stuffed. Bugger off.
Maitre D: Oh sir, just... just one...
Mr Creosote: Oh all right. Just one.
Maitre D: Just the one, sir... voila... bon appetit...

To celebrate Christmas and my seventh (and hopefully last) visit to hospital this year (just a four hour stay this time) here, by special request:
