We seem to be having mixed fortunes with our thinly spread crunching so why don't we lump for or two one projects and give ourselves some Christmas/New years cheer and maybe the odd taunt if so desired
Someone could list likely candidates and we could then vote?
Feel free to shoot the idea down! _________________ Crabbypatty

I vote Cosmo as it has a High credit score and relatively small units that even slow shrubbers can handle. _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

I do not think we are spread to thin, people contribute what projects that they wish to and believe in.

If it's spectacularity you want, may I suggest the travelling salesman project. We're currently 4th, with 1st only 35k away.
I've just put 2 quads (an Intel 6600 & an AMD 9500) exclusively on this for a couple of days to compare them, but if a few other kNi!ghts join in, I may be persuaded to leave them on for a couple of weeks and possibly add some more.
A WORLD #1 FOR XMAS ?????
Spread too thinly? Naaaah.

Cosmo needs a long term approach given the numbers required Papa
I meant more in a Christmas mirth and mischief sort of way not long term Mr Rabbit.
15/16 days and some banter if required. All in the best possible taste of course
Travelling salesman does look possible so I'm game, will up proirity and use both cores on the job Papa S if you transfer AMD64x2 400(or similar) for 15 days I'll give you back 15 days on Cosmo after christmas. Anyone else want a similar deal? I'm just a cheap tart at heart _________________ Crabbypatty

OK, I'm on. Will up shubbing effort on TSP to give us all a nice Xmas prezzie.
Let's see now. #1 is 35k away and crunching @ ~1750, so to overtake them in 14 days needs 4250/day. I'll chuck in 3k of that. Any takers for the other 1250?
Don't all rush at once. After all, we don't want to get to #1 before the 24th now, do we?
And I'm not after any cheap tarts; expensive ones only please.

Dunno but it's going to have an ant colony I think we'll be responsible for sending people over cliff edges as a short cut. _________________ Crabbypatty

Well last year I Shouted 3 times ( I think ) about us moving up in combined all between x mas and just after new year. I believe we took 6th over all on Jan 1st.
Ok, What the heck I will give say 10% for a while. Should be about 250 a day mabey, I don't know what the scoring is like.
Let me know if you need more....
Edit: I made it 18% Work units are about 1 hour for amd 64, 1 1/2 for Athlon xp 2000+
Edit #2: first unit crunched and returned on xp 2000+ @ 1hr 35min. 16 credits. same machine does a cosmo in 6 hours. so about the same credit. Cool.... _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

I must admit to a bit of a boo-boo when I first suggested this little escapade.
I based my original overtake estimate on the RAC shown on TSP; if I'd dug a bit deeper I'd have seen that SETI.USA accelerated mightily the day before us.
In recompense, I'll wait 'til we can see the whites of their eyes (i.e. we're in 2nd), then I'll give it brief blast of everything I can muster, probably ~15k/day (assuming that I can get enough work to justify it - at the moment most of my shrubbers are being limited to 10 WUs/day, so I can't get above 3½k).

I am finding it limits me to ten at a time but refills when sending completed units back. Have suspended the other projects to confirm this. _________________ Crabbypatty

Seti USA is crunching 11k & 12k the last 2 days. No way we can do that. I might be able to get to near 2k per day if I suspend all other work. We need more Knights.
They have 9550 today at the last incremental. But Boinc Synergy does not seem to have changed at all. _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

If we can get someone like OhioMike to chuck in 8k per day we may make it to #1. We will need some serious shrubbing power when they realize we are out for them. ( heck we need it now ) Just remember the "Powell Doctrine" Attack with overwhelming force. _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

I just checked the stats page, it seems that "Dr. Dan T. Morris @ SETI.USA" is going to be a problem for our plan. He put in his first credits 6 days ago and has amassed 27,248 credits in the same 6 days. his production was about 50 credits shy of our whole team for today, and this was a bad day for him. I hope that nobody has started to taunt yet. That would be bad..... _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

You're right, it's just limiting the size of the work cache.
Have upped my nominal daily ouput from 3½k to 6½k.

Maybe he lives somewhere that's about to get the worst ice-storm in living memory, bringing down the power lines for, ooh, say, 10 days. _________________ Creationists believe they never evolved; I agree with them.

So much for that idea- I just booted the Mac into OSX and figured I'd give it a shot- no work from project (Server Status= 0 ready to send). Booted back into Linux & Cosmo.
