Just ordered a quad-core AMD to replace my 4200+ X2, lets see if it helps.
(Also everyone is saying they are junk. Since "everyone" is saying it, I want to know for sure).
Very Happy

Funny that, I'm about to order the bits for an AMD quad (Phenom 9700). Unfortunately for you, it's as well as, not a replacement.

Best of luck trying; just remember that my RAC is down a bit 'cos I'm shrubbing (much) lower-scoring projects than Cosmology.

I could always swap back....

Poor Pooh Bear 27, passed by both of you rather promptly. Great job by both of you, I can only hope someday to match 10% of what you guys do. Keep kicking arse!

Don't make me spend all my xmas money on a pair of Quad-Core Xeons for my MacPro!
Very Happy
(Ugly- that would leave me with 2 "left-over" dual core Xeons, that I would need to get a motherboard for.....)
PS- Al, I know you're got me out-flopped. I just had to take the opportunity to "pull your chain". MC

Mike. No problem, I'm surprised more haven't taken the opportunity.

But, like you, I'm looking forward to seeing if AMD have got their act together again. Should have a fair idea in ~2 weeks time.

I've got a 2500 coming, should be here Monday. I'll see. Cheaper than my Q6600 was (by a little), lets see if the performance is there.
PS- I did get my blood pressure up a little, I ordered a AMD AM2+ (AMD3) motherboard to go with the new CPU, so my 4200+ X2 stays on-line(lots of "spare parts" around here).
