No work yet, I've created the team but it's not appeared on the team list yet and there appear to be a few website bugs here and there and only Linux binaries have been compiled so far.
The "project is being developed to better understand the power of volunteer computer resources." _________________

I prefer PayDay to Milkyway, unless it's the dark chocolate one then maybe I will do it. _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

I attached just one m/c and it's just got it's first Test work unit, so I've attached another ½ dozen.
It seems they're getting quite close to "real" WUs. I had a good nose around the site, and MilkyWay@Home appears to be a test project (albeit doing some interesting work) for a much larger DC programming languages project, focusing both on BOINC-style distributed resources and on the heavy metal - they're using an IBM BlueGene to test their software! (What a waste of good shrubbing power ) There are a number of links to what they're doing, try this for an overview. _________________ Creationists believe they never evolved; I agree with them.

So in more simple language what is this project supposed to be doing?

Analysing the structure of the Milky Way.
Although I can determine this in one bite:
But in the US, it would be like this (a Mars Bar in the UK):
But if there's a Restaurant At The End Of The Universe, surely there'll be a Bar At The Centre Of The Galaxy:

MilkyWay@Home is now producing a bit of work - I'm about ½-way through 2000 WUs (very short @ 1½ mins/0.35 cobblies each) and showing in the World Top 10.
A bit of digging reveals that they'll initially be building a 3-D model of merging galaxies, using observational data from a small galaxy that our own Milky Way is currently swallowing.
I don't know if these are just test units or real data, but if anyone else wants a piece of the action then now's the time to get crunching, before too many people get involved.
Happy Shrubbing.

Sir PS - so are all mine.
KR - they changed the URL, are you using the new one?
And it's given me my highest yet - 5th in the World
I don't think that'll last very long, so I'll bask in it while I can.
KR - Did you hit any wrong keys when you set up the team? I'm shown as a member, and I show up on the team page, but there's no sign of us anywhere in the team stats - we'd be 6th!

I noticed last night when searching for teams that we do not come up when searching under "All Teams" but we do come up when searching under "Nonclassified Teams" (or was it Unclassified?). _________________ Sir Latch of the Highlands

I will check team classification in a moment, I got some WU's that downloaded successfully and they took about 2 minutes each. About half did not download well. I will double check the URL.

You should know by now that it is always KRs fault.

It is always the projects fault, all the other projects I am team founder on there is not this problem.

but that flies in the face of Rule No. 1: It is always KRs fault. _________________ Sir Latch of the Highlands
