Given that Al's RAC is nearly 2x that of Sir Brians, I don't think he's quaking in his boots.

It's easy! Just trade in your wife for several computers, or figure out how to write everything off. Or better yet, do what I did- Both! Very Happy

I am sure that I would have had to give several comps to get rid of my X

Well, the (now) ex departed the scene a couple of years ago, reasonable income, no mortgage, no kids looking for hand-outs, fairly simple tastes (give me good food and wine and I'm happy - luckily I'm a decent cook and an even better wine-taster, hic!), so I decided about a year ago to start investing in a rather expensive heating system for the flat. That's fine in Winter, but I haven't yet found a cooling system for the Summer that can shrub at a reasonable RAC Crying or Very sad

BTW, Shrubber #15 (Q6600 #3) was added last Monday, the next is 3-4 weeks away. Twisted Evil I've space for 21 - that's 59 cores @ ~143GFlops, or ~ 28½k RAC. Laughing

If you're gonna go that deep I hope you have racks. Otherwise that'd take up a lot of floor space hehe.

Something cheap and effective like the 4 post 44u racks on this page. Only $400 hehe. But even a big 4u chassis that'd be 11 systems stuffed in there.

Maybe you should just wait and get one of those Sun T2s.

Old P4 Prescotts make very nice space heaters in the winter. I just put one under my desk and keep my toes toasty all winter (plus pick up an extra 500 credits/day).

You should get a rack for sure. They make adapters to put a normal case into the rack. If I ever put that much into systems it's definitely going into a rack if for no other reason than noise suppression and cooling. I was looking at racks the other day that have built-in A/C. Mmm.
